I think its unnecessary especially when canelo/cotto can sell on any date
I don't know if you're trolling or if you just genuinely don't get the point I'm making. Let me try and explain this more clearly...

IMO, GBP isn't trying to go head to head with Floyd. It seems to me that they're playing a game of chicken to try and get Floyd to back off from the May date. From a business point, Canelo-Cotto card will sell the most on Cinco De Mayo, assuming it's the only PPV that weekend. With the transition Floyd is making between promoters, it seems like the perfect time for them to try and make this power play to force Floyd out of his usual May date.

Will it work in September? Who knows, but I think Floyd takes at least a year off

Imagine the numbers Canelo-Chavez Jr. on Cinco de Mayo would do.

Funny how all the Floyd fans think it's crazy for Canelo...he's mexican, Floyd is not...I'll order Canelo cotto any day before another boring Mayweather fight and I'm sure there's tons of other people who will do the same...who cares if fLoyd fight khan...Pacquaio is the only option....check mate...have a nice retirement fraud....

If Cotto-Canelo and Mayweather-TBA are both scheduled for Cinco de Mayo weekend, somebody's coming down with an injury.

This is Bowe-Holyfield III/Tyson-Mathis Jr. stuff.

I ****ing love it. Now, instead of an arms race between promo companies, you'll have an arms race between two big name prize fighters, which in theory make for better fights.

one guy that could benefit fit big time is Cotto. Canelo and Floyd could possibly have a tug of war in order to secure a fight with him, and if It's in Canelo fight that Cotto can make the most Money from, Floyd is going to have to make that Pac fight happen. Cotto Vs Canelo would definitely harm Floyd's ppv Numbers with anyone not named pacquiao.
