Chavez is an idiot he's got minimal talent and is living off his dad's legacy. How the hell is making a min of 13 mill guaranteed over two fights a slave contract? No ones making that kind of money other than Floyd and Manny. This guy isn't selling anything close to 1 million ppv's nor is he a ppv fighter on his own.

Its Arum so it must be a slave contract, right? He needs to sign with some of these NSB advisors, obviously he's worth a lot moreChavez is an idiot he's got minimal talent and is living off his dad's legacy. No fighter should be forced to sign an extension when that fighter has lived up and met all requirements of that contract. If the promotional company did not make enough money (which is B.S. by the way) then it is that companies fault and not the fighters. Who cares if they need to recoup money. Do you really think these companies are loosing money? You are sadly mistaken. The fighter signed a contract that was presented, if the contract was not advantages to the promotional company then they should never have offered it. No fighter is obligated to sign an extension for the sake of a promotional company, especially a promotional company that is constantly being sued, fighters are running from except for two, and so far fighters have made more money when leaving that promotional company.Typically when it comes to promoters asking their fighters to sign extensions I side with the promoter.
After all in most cases the promoter has invested lots of money, in some cases up to millions of dollars in building up their star, and only through getting an extension are they ever going to recoup the money they invested.
Having said that, Chavez Jr. is a completely different story. This is a guy who has already made up what ever money Arum invested in him and then some.
He should not have his hands tied, and forced to sign an extension for a fight.Comment

Hes not forced to do anthing. He was given a no extension offer that would have been his best payday, just nowhere as much as with a 2 fight extension. What's unfair here?No fighter should be forced to sign an extension when that fighter has lived up and met all requirements of that contract. Disagree everyone does better away from TR. Bradley made like 15m for 3 fights, Rios made bank etc. Even Pac now gets above his market value, thanks to Arums links with the Macau high rollersComment

Read the comment i was responding to. then re-read my post. I never said the offer was un-fair. What i said is if a fighter has completed all obligations of the contract both he and his promoter agreed to, then he does not have to sign an extension and should not be forced to. It doesn't matter what the offer was/is or whether the fighter will make more. By purposely offering less to fight a major fight with out an extension, and then offering more fights with only extensions included, then yes TR is trying to force Jr to resign and it doesnt matter if the offer is fair, Jr has the right to become a free agent, and he does not have to sign an extension.
It's simple.Comment

And by the way the non extension offer was the same purse Jr made to fight Vera the 2nd time. Just because you add PPV revenue does not make that a fair deal to fight GGG. Martinez was the most money hes made and the no extension offer was not better then that.Comment

Why should he be forced to sign an extension to get a fight? That is a terrible practice and people support that support of corruption are fools. Chavez should be able to fight his last fight and leave! Imagine working for a store, but them refusing to pay unless you agreed to commit to them for another two years?Comment

No-one's forcing Chavez jr to do jack though. Nobody can. He coulda fought according to the big money two fight deal, the lesser, but still significantly large payday without the extension, fight a smaller name fighter for less or even refuse to fight at all and get sued for non-fulfillment. Hell if he's desperate, he could even buy his contract out.. it's been done before.Read the comment i was responding to. then re-read my post. I never said the offer was un-fair. I don't understand the argument, are you saying that promoters aren't allowed to use financial incentives to persuade fighters to do what they want?
****, and I thought I was the only hardcore socialist around here.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 09-07-2014, 04:54 PM.Comment
