Here is what Bob need to do let him go after his fight with Gilberto Ramirez

I'll not disagree that HBOs pushed Golovkin more than Maravilla (I'm a big fan of both guys, but Sergio basically only got the attention when his achievements forced everyone to acknowledge him) but that doesn't necessarily mean that Maravillas final popularity and value are or were less than GGGs are now.The thing is I'm not the only one who feels GGG is a bigger draw. Hbo has gone all I more then they ever did for Martinez. We're not comparing what the fighter has done we are comparing popularity. GGG has already headlined Msg with out ever having fought anyone popular. Hbo admitted to making a mistake and being admonished for not broadcasting GGG s fight against a nobody, Lampley spoke about that on HBO during GGG s last fight. I'm not saying it's right that GGG is more popular but he is
In fact I think the projected purses were similar in both cases roughly 66/33 in favour of JCC jr earning him around $3.5 mil...
Y'Know what? ****it. It's 2.45am here, and I'm half-cut and need to be up in a few hours. Not only that but I'm struggling to hang on to any train of thought for long... been a fairly civil discussion though - might catch up with you tomorrow.

Yup
Ramirez is a talented, young, undefeated, marketable Mexican from Sinaloa and he's under contract to TR
He'd beat Jr in a competitive but clear decision IMO
Bob should say, "OK, you don't want to sign an extension, huh? ... fine here's your out -- fight Gilberto"
Then when Junior loses, Bob should rake Junior's greedy a$$ over the coals ... "Oh, it was a competitive action fight that fans want to see again, and you want a rematch, eh? Well you're gonna have to sign with me for 5 years, b*tch, or you'll never get close to avenging your loss".
Chavez is being a c*nt and I used to be a big fan. Chavez Jr's own manager (as has been already noted in this thread) said the final "compromise" offer was:
-- $7 million to fight Golovkin
-- A ONE-FIGHT EXTENSION ONLY
-- $10 million guarantee in the next fight if he won vs. GGG
-- $5 million guarantee in the next fight if he lost to GGG
Anyone who thinks that's a bad deal knows absolutely **** about the business of boxing, PERIODComment

great analysis there ...
... thanks for that insightful contribution
It's lovely when you take the time to lay out facts and make a legit, substantive post and others respond with detailed, specific responses to that post to point out its shortcomings or applaud its meritsLast edited by djt117; 09-07-2014, 11:08 PM.Comment
