SHO: Overpaying wildly for fights like Adonis-Fonfar, while cards like the Hopkins-Bubet one do mediocre numbers.

HBO: Let a fight like Adonis-Kovalev slip through the net and can barely produce a great non-PPV anymore.

TR: Dwindling stable, and it's one bona fide star is in the final run of his career.

Arum is a scumbag, and HE started the Cold War (which people tend to forget). But Schaefer needs to bite the bullet and try to forge some sort of relationship with TR.

Boxing is a niche sport. We absolutely cannot sustain a Cold War a long-period.

These petty mother****ers are going to ruin things irreparably if they are not careful. Then GBP can have their monopoly on a sport that is on its last legs.
Schaffer is right thought. You can't have a relationship with someone who is hot one day and cold the next. Just look at his latest rant.
He publicly embarrassed and called out the managers of the MGM Grand. He claims he'll never do business with them again, but in a few months when he cools off he'll come running back looking to make a fight there.

He has done this to HBO. Taking Manny across the street to showtime when it was convenient, talking trash about HBO, then running right back to HBO when he was unhappy with Showtime.

He has constantly talked bad about Golden Boy, trashed them, going as far as publicly making fun of DLH's drag photos, calling him a **** moron! Calling Richard a fat clown etc. But now he's cool, and willing to work with him.

Common, I think Schaffer has had enough, he doesn't want to deal with Arum, and I can't say I blame him.

man... GBP and Top Rank should kiss and make up...

They can make money together. Just put cheap PPV's every couple of weeks for $19.99-$29.99 . And put up great cards. ... Or do a joint monthly PPV or something.

There's ways to go about it.

No you would have to prove collusion which would be hard to prove. Since said company wouldn't exist until after he no longer works for his current company. Especially if he's fired before his contracts runs out. Plus like in the stock market clients ends contracts with company y. For company x bc their old broker now works there.

Like Reed and others have stated, I don't think Oscar will fire him. You have to be a bit ruthless when you're running a multi-million dollar company and Schaefer is the right guy to run the show, and the last thing that Oscar needs is to make the mistake of hiring a pushover CEO who would likely play right into Arum's hands.

The ongoing hbo vs. Showtime battle royale will change the big promoters game.

Richard Schaefer is a very intelligent and charismatic man. You can see by just reading his comments and watching his interviews why he's very successful. THe best move GBP made was hiring Schaefer as CEO because he made GBP to where it is today.

I wrote up about this. Richard Schaefer by default. Is effectively planned or not. Is completing a hostile takeover of boxing. Everyone with him will love him. If you're not he's gonna steamroll over you.

People arguing against Schaefer biting the bullet and ending the Cold War....

                    I've seen it all now...

                    • Just a theory: Schaefer is most likely the smartest man in boxing. If I was Schaefer, I would be loving life. You have top rank with a weak in house stable. You are doing business with Al Haymon. Buying every hired gun that's for hire. You have your hands on so much talent it's crazy. HBO kicked you off their network. Now HBO is in trouble they're putting on shat cards and ppv's. They will ultimately need you. Top Rank is banned from the MGM. Now if you can build up all this young talent. You have all the dates you want at the MGM on showtime. It's only one fighter from top rank you and that's Manny fckin Pacquaio. Manny fckin Pacquaio, just so happen to be only thing keeping your rival semi relevant. At one point in time, you were in serious negotiations with Pacquaio to fight Money Mayweather. So now you know more than anyone else out side of his management. His finances, his bottom dollar for the fight and how bad does he want the fight. If he needs the money from the fight eventually he'll come crawling. From his point of view he might feel fck HBO, Arum and Oscar. If my theory is correct. Schaefer is about to commit a hostile takeover of boxing. I'm not saying it's right for fans or boxing but if he sees it the way I think it is. It's at least smart. As it stands he doesn't need HBO Oscar or Arum as much as they need him. He will be calling the shots at golden boy or elsewhere for time to come.
