Whats the point of getting rid of Schaefer? It's not like the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight is going to happpen, Mayweather doesn't want to work with Arum.

What other fights can they do? Get Bradley in the mix and pay him some huge minimums? Get Pacquiao a fight? His contract is almost over, why not wait it out and see what happens?

Oscar has gone full ****** here.

I have a feeling Schafer is talking like this because he has some leverage here.
I don't know what difference it would make, because most are still under the promotional contract of Golden Boy, which Oscar owns. Haymon may manage them and advise them, but he does not promote them.

Sure Haymon could advise them to not to fight or whatever, but it would only hurt himself and his fighters along with Oscar. Haymon could bleed them all away once their contracts expire, but I think many would stick with Golden Boy.

**** has a contract, which he claims that he hasn't extended.
If Oscar fires him while in contract, **** will sue over wrongful termination and most likely win since he has kept GBP afloat.

Once the contract expires, send him packing with $1,000 paycheck like you did Mosley.

-Arum is an A$$, but he has always been one. Nothing changed. You could however always do business with him.

-GBP have also always been asses, but went from able to do deals into wanting to turn the sport into the UFC boxing version.

-Arum got tired (as well as HBO) of watching GBP trying to force their hand and corner everything via aggression. Arum started doing the same thing.

It is hard to find anything to like about Arum, but Richard and Company have taken this to new levels. It is not just GBP/Arum/HBO/Showtime. Richard has threatened other promoters saying he will drive them out of business. It is easy to see the writing on the wall.
I've been thinking this for a while. In fact, Oscar himself used to talk about it too - that Golden Boy Promotions would be the only company, they would have all the fighters and the best fights, etc.

It really does feel like Schaefer/Haymon want to create a monopoly, especially when you see them targeting HBO fighters like Adonis, Mikey Garcia, Chavez Jr. They basically have their own in-house channel in Showtime and by aggressively targeting TR/HBO, they want HBO to lose interest, withdraw from boxing (leaving Top Rank screwed) - and so they basically control everything. I don't think it's going to happen, and I've got a feeling Showtime, with all this expenditure, are going to crash and burn.

Ruslan is not promoted by Top Rank, they had a 1 fight option because he beat Alvarado.

Nobody gives a crap about Nonito vs. Mares fight like they used to.

Rios vs. Thurman? They wouldn't even make an in house fight with Prov now they are going to put him in with Thurman? HA

The point is Top Rank is shallow as fuck and HBO is hurting right now, Oscar is at a great position right now and he's giving it all away by bailing them out.

Frankly I don't think Schafer cares, he's has enough power and a big enough name to make his own company at this point. And there are plenty of fighters who would follow him. Ppl think this would end a cold war, delusional. Oscar is just an idiot looking for attention and damaging his company.

Golden Boy would be nothing without Schaefer. He made it. De La Hoya would be ****** to fire Schaefer.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Arum and HBO behind all this De La Hoya's sudden keenness to work with them.

If that happens, Oscar can sue **** and Haymon's new company.
As CEO, **** has to look out for the best interest of GBP.
He is now letting most of their GBP fighters sign with Haymon, then if he becomes the CEO of that new company, that is a breach of his contract and a conflict of interest.
