Solid post but your forgetting Lara never beat Vanes they drew. That was a WBC title elimination fight where neither guy was able win convincingy . That allowed GB to look to make a fight with guys like Williams, Kirkland, and Ortiz who either turned it down or suffered an injury.

Beating Vanes would've put massive pressure on GB to give him the title shot against Canelo , but as always is the case he failed to impress against good opposition. The ridicoulus thing is he wants the Canelo fight so bad yet for some reason his team signs him up to fight a guy before Canelo even fought Angulo knowing beforehand his next fight will be in June . A pointless fight against a guy no one wants to see in Ishe Smith who's coming off a loss.

Did you know that gbp didn't post a bid for the Lara-vane fight? He left "his" fighter out to dry with the other promoter, I agreed the first 4 rounds were dull but from the fifth on Lara couldn't miss with the left hand, vanes quit even before the doc check his injury, Lara fought with a mellon on the side of his head against williams and never complaint it, that fight with vanes he won going away but he wasn't the house fighter, gbp didn't do $h1t for Lara, they were protecting ginger.

The money issue is another excuse for ducking. A fight with Lara will generate good revenues if GB does his job promoting well the fight. Anyway GB can move the fight to MIami and you will see how the coliseum will be full

you are an unreasonable fan who is not realizing that this is a business and you arent holding everyone to the same standard. Money will always supercede everything. Cotto-Sergio is just a bigger fight, no matter which way you want to slice it and I dont think everyone agrees with you that Lara is even a harder fight than the winner of that fight.

I say you dont hold people to the same standard because Lara himself would 100 out of 100 times do the same exact thing. You think he wants Canelo just because he's so great? No, its also for finacial reasons. Did you see Lara begging for a Molina rematch when he had the title? No because other guys bring more money/fame to the table.

The Lara fight will be there for Canelo after the Cotto-Sergio winner but there is no guarantee that the winner will be there for him afer Lara. You always go with the money 1st. Every fighter does whether you want to admit it or not. These guys take massive punishment. They all want to be paid for it.

Again though, the things you are saying makes no sense. You keep talking about Kirkland. They tried to fight him a ton of times. Do you really think they are scared of Kirkland? They probably think thats not much different than an Angulo fight and alot of fans would agree. The bottom line is that there is a 99.9% chance he is fighting Lara, Kirkland, or the Cotto-Sergio winner next. All should be acceptable to you. You're being disingenuous with your comment.

You're implying GBP was trying to take advantage of Kirkland here when that is not the case.

First of all the fight was offered to Kirkland in May of 2012. It was offered to him one month after he had successful shoulder surgery and for a fight that wouldn't be taking place until September of 2012. Kirkland agreed to the terms according to his manager Cameron Dunkin.

A day later he pulled out of the fight, his team claiming that he had re injured his shoulder and they weren't sure if he would be ready to go by September.

Then it comes out that James Kirkland's new adviser some kid named Michael Miller was saying that Kirkland would be ready to fight in September only if they offered him 2.5 million dollars. His own manager and promoting company called Kirkland out on this and said that they weren't sure what was going on but that Kirkland was getting some bad advise from this new business adviser, because he clearly wasn't worth 2.5 million. Later in the year Kirkland sues GBP and manager Dunkin and seeks release from his contract.

Lara can actually do something to make his boring career exciting by taking advantage of fights like this. I'd be laughing hard if Lara uses his bike again in this low level fight.

I can't stop being reminded of Lara's last fight. Trout had similar style, but the poor guy was forced to chase the running Lara and throw punches at the same time. People don't how hard it is to move forward and punch especially when you were not trained to fight with such style. The one who counters always have the advantage. Poor Trout. He should just have ran and stuck to his style.

Don't bother with this guy.

He is so blinded by his love for his fellow Cubans he is unreasonable.
In one breath he says Canelo is a bum, in the other breath he says he wants to see the best fight the best and it's why Canelo should fight Lara.
He also says money is an excuse for ducking, but doesn't understand that money is the reason Lara wants Canelo and not a rematch with Molina or Vanes.

Angulo was the one who lost with Lara. Trout is not better than Lara. Mayweather is the exception because a lost with Mayweather is an honor and not a lost. In the future Lara is better either than Cotto or Martinez. Beasides Lara Kirkland is a good opponent. He should start fighting the bests like is Lara or Kirkland instead of Trout, Cotto, Mosley, Martinez old grandpas. He will like to fight Lara when he be 40 and Canelo 30.
