If he would have gotten the decisions against Chavez and Oscar which a lot of people think he deserved, his resume would be far ahead of Roys....

H2H he's certainly Top 10, 100% no doubt about it.

Resume and career wise though, I'd put Manny and Floyd about 10-15 spots higher, but I would have Roy around Top 40-45.

I've even heard some people say top 5.

Of course we are thinking prime Roy Jones, in which history teaches us to only judge fighters by their youth years.

No where near a top 20, that's ridiculous. He was great but what he started in the early to mid 90s he didn't carry on. His level of comp dropped and was involved in fighting guys who were sparring partner levels.

What he did at hw was impressive but it wasn't a true championship but I'll give him prop. A prt of being absolutely a top 20 great is what you do in adversity, how you deal with a situation when your youth starts to fade, that's when you fall back on superior technique and guts. Jones was KOd by guys who aren't even considered ATG.

I'm counting Chavez as a win. There's still no real difference. Both have some really good wins. This is not a knock on Whitaker. More of a defense of Roy. Hopkins and Toney are great wins. Johnson, Tarver, Hill and Griffin are very good wins. I believe all things considered, Ruiz is a very good win. Roy's resume is very solid.

Chavez is another fighter who's wins are really no better than Roy's.

One thing about it, Ward surely wont be in the top 10 LOL.
What pisses you off about this threads? This is discussing rather a legend, in which everybody agrees is a legend, is a ATG as well.

Just like Mayweather for talent and skills top 20, but not a strong resume.

Is Mayweather top 20 in your opinion?

I think the problem is that when we have talent thats far superior to whats around at its time we punish them for it. Roy was by far better than his competition, so people's nature is to think everyone else must be sorry and he couldnt be that good. He just made his competition seem horrible he was faster and stronger and lightning quick in offense and defense. The guy WON THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP! HE WAS A MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION. Its just like how people were talking about Canelo before he fought floyd...it was gonna be a test and possibly Floyds first loss, by ko even. But Floyd outclassed him so badly and was just so much better people didnt give him credit but more hate. as opposed to just saying damn he's one boxing mf. No people dont like to give credit where credit is due. this generation hates skills and love brawls, youre supposed to see how many times you can get hit as opposed to using defense and offense. But Roy will be held in high regard forever. If you dominate your era thats all you can do so yes he's an ATG. OUT OF EVERYBOXER THAT HAS LACED UP GLOVES He is the only boxer in history to start his career as a light middleweight (154 lbs) and go on to win a heavyweight title. STOP HATING

ALSO he won the WBA Heavyweight title, becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a heavyweight title in 106 years

IF THAT AINT ATG WORTHY THEN YOU GUYS NEED A DIFFERENT SPORT.
