    No s**t. Different sports. Boxers going to the UFC/MMA, they'd be killed.

    MMA or UFC guys trying to box top level boxers would get schooled though as well.

            Yes, I think boxers would generally do terrible in MMA. But I belive a boxer would have a bigger puncher's chance than a MMA guy would have in boxing. Boxers at least have one element of MMA mastered and all fights starts standing up whereas mixed martial artists generally are pretty crappy boxers. Let's take Wladimir and put him in the octagon, as long as they are standing up he would be a threat to anyone there. We've seen some boxers do this in MMA and knock the guy out quickly like you said. But let's put Junior dos Santos in a boxing ring against Klitschko (which is something he wanted apparently). There is no way, or a very little chance he would even be able to touch Wladimir. The way he ate Cains right hand Wladimir would knock him out quickly.

              It's definitely not as big as it was in the states during the Brock Lesnar era (I'd say it peaked in 2009/2010) but in terms of its global attraction, it is in a much better spot.

              They are HUGE in Brazil, very big in Canada (although GSPs retirement will hurt this) and still very relevant in the U.S (their last PPV did 1 mill buys). Their number 1 PPV attraction, GSP has retired, their heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is out for about 6-9 months and Anderson Silva is out for probably a year. That will hurt them short term BUT once those guys are back, it would have allowed each division the time to strengthen.

              MMA is doing just fine, I assure you (especially the UFC).

                The main reason a fighter may choose mma over Pro Boxing is;

                They don't have the chin for boxing!
                mma guys can't punch so their safe in the fenced area.
                Put a well schooled wrastler in a boxing ring to wrastle he will have a noticable advantage.
                Take the same fellow and dress him up with "boxing gloves" and boxing rules....................................knocked out!!!!
                I get tired of the grabbler vs boxer BS, both have home court advantages no different then comparing any athletes!!

                  At least in MMA the best fight the best..they can't run and hide from challenges like some boxers do..no promotional excuses, no testing excuses, no purse excuses...Dana White consistently puts the best guys in with each other.

Floyd's not even the best athlete in boxing, it's his ring IQ and timing, if his success was based on athleticism he would've gotten knocked cold against Mosley.
                    I would have to agree. Floyd is a techician. He is in great condition but in his present version I don't see his athletic ability as the main driver. MMA guys have to train a lot more physically than boxers, thats just the reality.

                      why does a mmgay fighter necessarily have to box to prove anything to a boxer? Why can't they both fight with punches and kicks and tackling and see who is the best???

                      floyd is so athletic that he could become a top level wrestler in about 6 months. If he wanted to, he could be the 160 mma champion, but he goes after the dough.
