Does anyone actually think Cotto vs Martinez is competetive?

For where Martinez is at physically it does give Cotto a shot. Ill say that is what makes it possibly competitve.

I think even a diminished Sergio would still be superior both in boxing ability and strength as well as size.

Cotto's never won a big fight in his life and he's going to be picked apart here for a payday

        cotto's intelligence makes it competitive

martinez is an overrated boxer, but i agree, he's got the power, speed and size that can be troubling

"Competitive" and "going to win" are two different things. You're one of the few (along with other ricans) who think Cotto will "definitely" win; everyone else believes Cotto either has a chance or will be competitive.

Only El Angel? Do you not see the rest of the Cotto nuthuggers with the same thoughts?

Once Cotto wins everyone will say Martinez is "passed prime" or "shot", looking forward to these comments come fight night. A lot of people say "only way Cotto has a chance is if Martinez is shot", yea ok people.

I think it will be competitive and might give Cotto a chance coz Martinez is not the same Martinez 2 years ago.

I mean for one thing Cotto is going to be way too small, Martinez is a natural middleweight, Cotto is small at jr middle.

And this isn't a scenario where Cotto is going to be smaller and more agile. Martinez is faster, has better balance and movement, hit's harder, has better punch resistance.

In my mind, this fight is a mismatch and I don't know why Cotto is taking it.

Sure Martinez is a bit older now, but that's not going to be nearly enough for Cotto to win. He will be outboxed bad for 3-4 rounds and I see Martinez taking him out somewhere around the 5th or 6th

2 years ago? Hell no. These days? Maybe.

Undersized MW in decent shape vs knee problems, hand problems and advanced age?

Well, Sergio was lucky to get out his last fight with a W. Murray is a much bigger man than Cotto.

I dont think Sergio will have the same issues he had with Murray vs Cotto but with all his health issues, who knows if the judges will gift him this fight like they gifted him his last?

It all depends on how healthy Sergio Martinez is come fight night. I'm a Cotto fan but he and his team picked this fight because they're counting on Sexy Sergio being way past his prime. I honestly believe it will be competitive at some points but Sergio should be able to pick up the competitive, but clear win. If Sergio is at 100% though, he should be able to knock out Cotto.

If Cotto can't knock him out I can see him going on the defensive and trying to outbox Martinez as he did with Mosely.
