It's times like these I miss a prime Punisher.

It did a little bit because he avoided the Lara rematch when it was obvious there should have been a rematch.

Tis sad times for me now. Where will the next Paul Williams come from. I cannot wait.
Paul Williams was an extraordinary talent, he could fight anywhere from welterweight to middleweight...and he was 6 feet tall. Terrific fighter, a friendly and warm human being outside of the ring, it's just sad he never got that big Floyd Mayweather fight. It is also sad that he blew his biggest shot against Martinez by going in gung ho and succumbing to a beautiful hook.

I hope he has a full recovery.

Lara was coming off a draw with Molina which many thought he lost. It was a cherry pick that backfired.

Williams was well on his way to becoming exactly what you complain about. Enough of the revisionist history.

No he didn't, not even a little bit. Because the Punisher that fought Lara was far removed from his prime.

I say it mostly because posters love to say Cotto ducked Paul Williams and that's an outright lie. Made me expose my hidden agenda.
Cotto ducked Williams no two ways about it. Guess who the mandatory for the Williams belt (WBO) at 147 was for 2 years? Yeah Miguel Cotto and guess what happen when Williams got frustrated and dump the belt and move up when Cotto didn't enforce his mandatory status? Yeah Miguel Cotto came out and fought Jennings for the vacate belt.. So Miguel Cotto isn't no saint.

Sure..... if the Punisher who fought Lara is considered prime by you, I'd agree. Must have been his best year that one then huh?? (Revisit tread title). That is all.
