The corner has a financial interest? They should have more interest in their fighter's safety. The problem with the ref asking the fighter is that the fighter might agree to continue when he knows he shouldn't because he's in front of his home town fans and get killed. The cornermen know the fighter way better than the ref and the ref should honor their suggestion to stop the fight.

Guys, I'm not dis*****g the rules. I think at this point in the thread everybody knows the rules. Put it like this....... should Mike have died because of the rules? Or if he had died would you have said "hey, he died but the rules were followed so it doesn't matter"Comment

Guys are picking and choosing who to bash when it comes to certain things these days.
Lol it is isn't it??? It's the truth though bro.Comment

So what's your point? That happens all the time. The fighter pretends to disagree AFTER the stoppage and the ignorant, blood lusting crowd voices their displeasure because they live vicariously through their fighter and want to believe he can't be beat.... but the fighter is alive because the corner men know their fighter for years if not decades. You're boring me. ZZZZzzzzzzz............
what's your point? mike is alive. did weeks kill him? he just wants the stoppage to come directly from the horses mouth.
you are talking as if weeks totally dismiss the corner and let the fight continue. he confirms it with the fighter, and the fighter agrees. end of story.Comment

Forget Mike's life, follow the rules. The rules...... the ruuuuuuules.
Geez, I swear some times......Comment

they're have been plenty of fighters that didn't want the fight stopped but they're corner did, once the corner says the fights over the ref and only the ref can stop the fight or the doctor.I've seen fights where the corner tells the fighter they're going to stop the fight and the fighter doesn't disagree until after the fight's been stopped. I don't think anybody says "Awww come on! They shoulda let the fighter quit so we can all know he wanted it stopped". What the heck are you saying?
if the ref disagrees with the corner the fight continues.Comment

Weeks did totally dismiss the corner. Why humiliate Mike unnecessarily?

tend to agree in most cases...im just stating what the rules are. only the referee can technically stop the fightthe corner can end the fight whenever they want. that's how it is, and how it should be. if a guy is taking a beating mid round you can get him DQ'd by jumping in the ring. if you don't want to let him out for the next round you can stay in the ring and get your guy DQ'd. the ref cannot, and should not be able to keep the corner from stopping the fight. at the very least, they can get their guy disqualified and get the fight stopped.Comment
