Just imagine if Broner did what Alvarado did and how different the reaction would be on here.

only the ref can, weeks made the right call now alvarado can't blame his corner for years on how he never wanted the fight stopped. now we all know it was him that wanted it stop.Comment

what's the difference on weeks asking alvarado directly vs believing on the corner? He is just confirming it on the fighter himself. what if he immediately stops it on the request of the corner and yet mike goes up and disputed it? how would the crowd react?
he will be blamed by the crowd if he didn't do his homework. it's the championship round, and then suddenly the corner wants to stop it at the beginning of the round. weeks did what he should do.Comment

The corner men know their fighter better than the ref. The ref should accept the cornermens' suggestion to stop the fight or else the corner need to do what they have to do to protect their fighter. Easy.Comment

So what's your point? That happens all the time. The fighter pretends to disagree AFTER the stoppage and the ignorant, blood lusting crowd voices their displeasure because they live vicariously through their fighter and want to believe he can't be beat.... but the fighter is alive because the corner men know their fighter for years if not decades. You're boring me. ZZZZzzzzzzz............Comment

To your earlier point it'd be a DQ. Like I said I don't disagree with the corner trying to stop it. But the corner has a financial interest in the fight thus the ref by rule either makes the call it asks the fighter.Comment

I've seen fights where the corner tells the fighter they're going to stop the fight and the fighter doesn't disagree until after the fight's been stopped. I don't think anybody says "Awww come on! They shoulda let the fighter quit so we can all know he wanted it stopped". What the heck are you saying?Comment
