Another Floyd v Manny fanboy spit session. You **** need to 69 each other and never come back.

To say that boxing doesnt need technicians is dumb. To say that it doesnt need Gatti v Ward is maybe even dumber.

If Hopkins thinks it's not skilful then let's see him try and come forward and see how he does. We may see him on the damn floor again ala Calzaghe.
agreed...if people say ruslan isn't skilled then they know nothing or aren't paying attention...there is a lot going on to what guys like ruslan or golovkin does that makes them effective at breaking guys down...they aren't mindless brawlers....

the best way to analyze this situation would be to take Pac/May out of the equation. And ask again, which styles in general would fans want to spend their hard earn $$$ in a fight for entertainment.

Boxing is entertainment, and fighters train for months to entertain and get paid.

Imagine if there were no brawlers and come forward fighters, and only potshotting defensive fighters whose goal is to win on points.

Clearly a case of completely misunderstanding and misrepresenting what Bhop said. He never said guys like Ruslan are bad for the sport, he only spoke about the lack of support for defensive boxers.

So to be a fan of the sport, you have to like defensive manoeuvres and a general refusal to engage? I should enjoy Tim Bradley gliding all over the ring, volume jabbing? I should enjoy lack of punches, excessive feignting and lateral movement?

Go look at the the 50 best fights of all time and try to see where the essence of the fight was "hitting and not getting hit".

Two of the my favourite fighters ever were Toney and Duran, who had brilliant defences. But both loved to fight - these two mother****ers tried to put a hurting on the opponents.

Some of you people are content to see economical, pragmatic styles, all under this idea of "sweet science". It's a superiority complex, you think you know better and are smarter than other fight fans, when in reality, most of you Broner/Mayweather fans are some of the dumbest people on this site.

Originally boxing was about knocking your opponent out or him quitting. It was a battle of wills who would break first.

early boxing fights would go for hours and many rounds because in those days fights didn't end until someone got knocked out or someone quit. There was no judging.

Its a sport of hit the other better then the guy hits you

so if you hit the guy and don't get hit; haven't you achieved this?

And there was also a lot of defense involved in early boxing. Look at how frequently guys clinched a hundred years ago

Boxing as a sport was not built on the arbitrary definition of "hit and dont get hit" that's just nonsense from floyd groupies that love his steez over the actual sport.

The problem here is that people are so entrenched in Floyd vs Manny that they just wont move on and engage in real discussions.

You cant lump "skilled" fighters as boring or technicians. The Four kings all had elite skill but actually engaged in their fights. Skilled doesnt mean you dont fight.
