The truth is Prov would one punch KO Floyd and Bhop in a street fight and they know it

Thats why Floyd won't leave the house without at least 3 bodyguards because he knows an average dude can kick his ass in the street. Prov wouldn't back down from anyone.

Lol I will love to see slick boxers go thru what Tim did and "school" Ruslan. Yeah, what a schooling.... Got sent flying across the ring, did a back flip, slurred speech and couldn't walk straight for months.

Hopkins is boring and not interesting, his nick name executioner makes me laugh, his performance against Austin Trout was a disaster. He is envy for the fighters that give entertainment, and people love them. noone care for Bhop anymore. his fights are boring to watch, you just think when will this melodrama ends. If all the boxers were the same as Hopkins boxing will die, and those boxers can go for shoe selling, well Khan can run a kebab house or drive a taxi offcourse...

It works both ways though. Rigondeaux got thrown under the bus by his own promoter in the media for not being a Ruslan-like fighter. I don't have anything against any style, but when you have networks telling fighters how to fight (especially to their detriment), with the threat of not being televised, then there is a problem. Not every fighter has the tools to satisfy out and out bloodlust and forcing them to do it anyway is not good. If a style is executed well, there's room for it.

I don't understand sometimes. Do people not realize that the same way fighting off the back foot is sometimes the best strategy to beat a guy who comes forward, that coming forward is a proven strategy to beat someone who doesn't want to fight?

Successfully moving forward and beating a boxer takes just as much skill as fighting going backwards. Roberto Duran was slicker than 99% of "slick defensive fighters" in today's sport. A lot of come forward fighters are more skilled than guys like Devon Alexander or Wlad Klitschko.

Watch Leo Santa Cruz and tell me what he does doesn't require an admirable amount of skill. Fans who say it doesn't are just as bad at recognizing skill as the brawler fans they speak down to every day.

Not watch him instead of watch him and ***** about him and people who do like watching him.

There is nothing wrong with that. But promoters and networks shouldn't be telling fighters how to fight. Especially since its been proven that fighters that WIN have financial success over the long term. Floyd and Hopkins are still winning, healthy, making millions and generating ratings and PPV buys.

i mean you dont see basketball fans complaining that teams are boring because they shoot too much as opposed to dunking. if they do dunk a lot its a plus, but quality basketball is quality basketball regardless. more importantly long range shooting is part of the game.

you as a fan dont decide what the sport is, it is what it is and you either like it or you dont. hitting without getting hit (aka boxing) is naturally a major part of the sport called boxing so any boxing "fan" who doesnt enjoy watching that which is boxing isnt really much of a boxing fan is he?
Yes hitting and not getting hit is great to watch as well but not so much when the not getting hit part is more holding than actual defensive skill. I love watching counter punchers who box but Hopkins style of throwing one punch and holding or using his head or faking injury is not entertaining to me, its just spoiling the fight. Some of you see it as "old school" tricks and take the high road like you are better and more knowledgeable boxing fans for claiming to enjoy it but that's all bull ****. Hopkins is one of the dirtiest fighters and biggest sook in the sport and refuses to accept it when he loses but he gets a pass from everybody while other fighters get **** on if they speak up and feel they deserved the win in a close fight.

Understanding or appreciating and actually finding certain styles entertaining are 2 totally different things. I fully understand and can appreciate the style of a slickster such as Bhop or Floyd. I found Hopkins performance against Pavlik very entertaining. It was a true boxing clinic. I also found both his fights with pascal very entertaining as well. Truth is he's also been in quite a few stinkers. I can say the same for Floyd and Ward as well as several other technical boxers as well.

Now just because certain fans aren't entertained by actionless fighting doesn't mean they don't understand what's going it. It just means that when tuning in to see a fight they expect to see an actual fight. Not a display of let's see who can make who miss more without trying to hurt or take your opponent out.

So at the end of the day there's no wonder why many boxing fans (mainly causals) prefer the style of say Ruslan or a Pacquiao to that of a defensive slickster. When you're watching fighters who are willing to put it all on line, take one in order to get theirs in, and who's main objective is to obliterate their opponent, there's no wonder why they get more praise than someone who prefers to play it safe and focus on merely playing tag you're it with their opponent with the objective of scoring a bland safe points victory. Its like watching 2 guys play the violin vs watching an action packed concert.

When did Hopkins say brawlers are bad for the sport?Hopkins simply said that its not right that slick boxers are being rebuked in favor of brawlers.Hopkins clearly said that he enjoyed Gatti/Ward but he feels all styles should be embraced. And Pacquiao whose a brawler has been in boring fights also, example:the Clottey and Bradley fight.
