Hey, as the saying goes "Styles makes fights."
According to Bhop, Ruslan is bad for boxing because....

I would rather been Ruslan that night even if I wouldn't have gotten the victory.Funny how the champion emerged as the one in a wheelchair black and blue in one fight and in his next fight was the one who had a concussion, knocked down 3x, and whose speech was slurring. Used to be judges score the loser as the one who were more beat up. Just like school fights.
I know his style and I like that type of boxing too but he's boring to me. And I'm just guessing idk anything for sure about how hbo is viewing him but im sure they hear the boos but choose not to say anything. They heard them for Rigo n he's getting ****ted on cuz he whooped Nonito I know that. And if u dont think Floyds succes isn't due in part to the way he is then that's u. I think it has part to do with it. I've heard it myself from my black friends that Floyd is cooler then Bradley and Ward that's they like him more. They even like Broner more and he hasn't had their success but again, it's cuz he's outthere bro.Easy. Just watch the fights of fighters with styles that you like. You can watch him on YouTube before hand so you don't waste your time and have to suffer through 12 rounds of something you don't like. Or just ask the posters about what kind of style he uses so you don't have to bore yourself to death.
I haven't heard anything about HBO not wanting to show him again. Arum hasn't come out and said anything either. He's actually being featured on the HBO fall lineup promos. They even want him to headline against Burns in New York City. Don't kid yourself. They aren't blackballing Rigo because of his style. Its because of how big he is, who he just beat and where he was born.
No. Because Ward hasn't had the success in the ring that Floyd has had. There are plenty of entertaining characters that don't generate $41 million per fight. And even before the De La Hoya fight he was headlining PPV and generating $2-3 million per fight. He's earning what he's earning because of being the best fighter in the world first and foremost and his crossover appeal, second.
Well Ruslan, Kirkland, Angulo, Alvarado, Rios, Matthysse, GGG and whoever else aren't making money like Floyd either. "But PBP, Floyd and Hopkins have had longer careers than them"...OK
Gatti, Ward, Augustus (Burton), Morales, Barrera, Rafa Marquez, Israel Vazquez, Castillo, etc. aren't making money like Floyd either.
But fans financially support action fighters, huh? They want to see entertaining fights.? If that's the case than shouldn't the highest earners in the sport be all out action fighters? Isn't fan interest measured by ratings and ticket sales?
Pac, Cotto and other fighters that you consider exciting have had financial success too, but they have had success IN THE RING to go along with their styles.
Ok they aren't perfect. So be it, I like them as fighters. Nonito not so much. I'm glad Rigo spanked him but if someone found Rigo performance boring then that's them. I'm not gonna try to convince them other wise. Can Ruslan fight in multiple ways if he had to? If Ruslan found himself like Gatti did when he was in with Ward-a guy who was "out brawling" him-could Ruslan change it up and box to a victory like gatt did.
I think the answer is no, thats the problem. World class fighters like Matthysse and Nonito have their train derailed because they couldn't make simple adjustments. Their toughness can take them only so far.Last edited by Bigg Rigg; 10-21-2013, 09:10 AM.Comment

I think it was Ward or Virgil Hunter who said something along the same lines when there was alot of buzz around the Froch - Kessler rematch.
Watching someone put on a Boxing clinic is great...but so is a come-forward fighter who is in exciting fights. Doesn't have to be one over the other, fans can enjoy both.
But me personally, if i was going to pay money to watch i fight, i'd choose a Ruslan fight over...say, a Hopkins fight.Comment

How the hell can he be bad for boxing? Just look at how much people are talking about him and hopping on the wagon.Comment

This is not a new trend
When you look back in time, who are the fighters mostly remembered? It was the tigers who tried to take you head off. It has always been this way. What is BHOP smoking?
When you think of the 90's, people think of Holyfield, Tyson, Gatti, Oscar etc.
80's? Hagler (who could box greatly, but also tore his opponents apart)
Leonard (who could box greatly, but also tore his opponents up)
Duran (great Offensive fighter with Defense)
Hearns (could Box, but liked to attack and tear guys up)
Being great is great, but it also does not hurt to show a gladiator instinct. The crowds want blood and drama. Always have and always will. What we are seeing from BHOP here is nothing more than Jealousy. I hate to say it but that is exactly what it is.Comment

Like I said. Its secondary. If Broner wasn't winning nobody would care. And Bradley and Ward are among the highest paid boxers of the post Floyd/Pac era.I know his style and I like that type of boxing too but he's boring to me. And I'm just guessing idk anything for sure about how hbo is viewing him but im sure they hear the boos but choose not to say anything. He never said that. He meant that encouraging slick boxers to fight like brawlers is bad for boxing.
People are confusing B-Hop with Stax on Deck who apparently became the spokesman for fans of slick boxers.Comment
