There doesn't really need to be too much concrete proof, since all you need to do is ask the casual fan or bystander.

Floyd has a very loyal niche fanbase, which is rooted within the boxing community, which is why he has far more PPV buys. However, Manny is more widely known by those who aren't fans/followers of the sport.

          But...

Even with all that recognition and superstardom beyond what any current athlete here will ever experience, the sport he participates in still has a relatively small fanbase. I fear boxing is becoming a niche sport and will always be behind soccer, football, basketball and baseball in terms of global appeal.

absolutely agree. floyd after beating hatton inexplicably retired when the division he was in was the best in boxing. he kinda left the sport in a lurch and it was pacquiao who brought it back with his great fights vs diaz, oscar, marquez, hatton and cotto.

floyd came back and tried to bogart manny's shine by announcing a fight vs marquez the same day hatton vs pacquiao hatton but pacquiao again upstaged him.manny absolutely kept boxing afloat and his reign as p4p king was much more exciting than floyd's reign.

Your post is ridiculous simply because of the title. Boxing never needed a resurgence because its popularity never waned. Also, if you think watching Manny Pacquaio fight guys like Joshua Clottey and an over-the-hill Shane Mosley gave boxing a resurgence, you are either delusional or an alien from another planet.

Let us all engage in a moment of silence to remember Manny Pacquaio, whose career and hype died at 2:59 of the sixth round of his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez in November 2012.

Everyone and their mother knows who Floyd is in the states. If you don't think that you must not get out. Not everyone loves him but they know him. A lot of friends don't know who Manny is because they're casual and Floyd makes waves here when he does anything. That bet whether true or not people who don't even follow boxing knew about it.

Girls here know Floyd, they will actually go watch a floyd fight if it's being held...a lot of my friends do. Manny fights they might goto the fight party, but they won't watch the fight....people love to drink. So i think you're misunderstanding something here.
