I've said it before, Floyd doesn't need Alvarez to define his career. Despite what the people on this site think. Floyd can pick anyone to fight at this point and make his $30 mil. How many bums will Alvarez have to fight to get even half that amount? Say what you want the only one coming out a winner on this one is Mayeather. We all saw what happened to last person trying to play hardball with Mayweather. He ended up up KOd on the canvas by a boxer Mayweather toyed with.
Right! Canelo is 60-0 but none of his fans can show ONE hall of famer on his resume. Mayweather fought champions and hall of famers early in his career!! Why aren't the same people who are calling for Mayweather to step up and face Canelo, not calling on Canelo to go up and face Martinez or Andre Ward? Yeah prove yourself against some of those big guy, since he re-hydrates up to their weight classes anyway. Oh wait..I guess Can't/elo doesn't like when the other fighter has the advantages inn weight eh?

    • Anyone find it odd the only people against this fight are the ones with red karma?

Basically all of the useless trolls whose opinion isn't worth anything.

      • I think its a good move. He can avoid the fight while saving face. Floyd will turn it down simply because he doesn't want to have terms dictated to him. I don't know why anyone would want this fight for Canelo. He's young he doesn't need this fight, he could go 10 years undefeated all the while gaining skills and take the big fights the last 5 years of his career.

        • This is amazing....not one utter from Mayweather or ellerbe about this fight and yet everybody is acting like they heard mayweather say it in court or something......damn the hate is strong on that man..

I dont think many people disagree that if this fight takes place it should be at 154 but mayweather had his last fight at 147 for a reason. Just my opinion, but i think he took it at 147 because he feels more comfortable and despite that skills pay bills stuff he was sayin cotto was gettin to dat ass. Size DOES matter sometimes. I think he wasnt sure if he was gettin old or if the weight (of cotto) affected him. Thats why i believe he brought his pops bacc as well. Showtime is giving that man a lot of money and he gotta deliver. People kill me with this he's ducking somebody ****. Do any of you realize that ya'll said the same thing about his last opponents before he fights them, beats them, and ya'll say they're old or washed up, or green or ect. like mayweather is still 26 or something.

Im waiting to hear from the man himself before i can pass judgement on one sentence from a guy who about a month ago 2/3rds of this board was calling a"unproven, green, too young, classic mayweather cherrypick". He squeaks by another "slightly less unproven" guy and somehow mayweather is scared.

on a side note i pray that this thread gets kept in a safe place on this site so it can be revisited after floyd makes this guy look like guerrero in a one sided (boring or beautiful) beat down like 42 other opponents, scratch that 43 because he made castillo look bad in the 2nd fight. To everyone who brings up the next "guy mayweathers scared of" i swear im gonna reply with a paste of a post you made in this thread and why you sound dumb as hell.

It wasn't until De La Hoya made him a star when he was 30 that people outside of boxing knew who he was.
Fact is Canelo has the makings of a bigger crossover star than Floyd will ever be. He is already plastered all over Under Armor ads. Meanwhile mister 24/7 has 0 endorsement dollars to speak of despite being all these late night talk shows.
I love how people try to compare a 36 year old to a 23 year old and act like they have some type of point.
The fight their negotiating for is 36yr old floyd vs 23 yr old Canelo. So whatever the hell Floyd was doing at 23 doesn't matter now. Except dominating P4P fighters Canelo at 23 is not doing that but Floyd was; if you want to take it their. Also if you making 85 Million in a yr, being some companies puppet isn't that important.

People outside of boxing don't know Canelo.
Canelo has the 154 title and made weight in his last fight. You want Floyd to fight a 160 fighter then tell Floyd to fight Martinez.

Everyone also knows that Canelo will re-hydrate up to middle-weight or even lightheavy weight by fight time, so we'll have a welter-weight vs a light-heavy-weight. But nobody cares about that? It's a none starter all the way around. It's becoming insane what people are asking Mayweather to do. Who's next after Alvarez? Klitchko? King King?

Dude weighs around 170 on fight night other than that he has ZERO advantage over Floyd! But speaking of that Ward is open and looking for an opponent since people seem to not care about weight! And the funny thing is on fight night they will be closer than Mayweather and Canelo would be!

Also I am sure GGG will be ready by September after taking care of Macklin in June so you have two dudes who will weigh around the same as you on fight night would love to get a shot at you and beat the shyt out you!
