Any half assed Mexican fighter can sell out a stadium with cheap ticket prices in a city that is Majority Mexican. @22 Floyd was already p4p one of the best and a champion and not from beating welter weights in a vacant title match like Canelo did.. Talent, skills and natural ability adds up in boxing and that's why Floyd appeals to the whole world of boxing whether people like him or not! Do you think Canelo will ever appeal to all of the United States, the UK, south Africa, Canada, parts of Asia and parts of Latin America the way Floyd does?? I doubt it! Having Mexico's support will only get him so far if he's not appealing to the rest of the world. The red hair and freckles isn't gonna fool everyone!

But without that guarantee, Alvarez basically said to hell with Mayweather and I don’t blame him.
“Mayweather has no word to support what he says. The contract was already within the terms and just was missing the signature,” Alvarez said. “He said yes, but nothing happened at the end. Floyd never signed anything. But in spite of all that I am happy with my fight and my own date. This is what I wanted from the beginning. "

Mayweather's people told Canelo's they would fight in the fall if they both won on May 4th. His people and Golden Boy have stated this multiple times. When it came time to get that in writing Floyd said no. Floyd's people tried to play Canelo and it didn't work.
The fight will happen. And it'll be amazing to see Canelo gas after 4 rounds and get tagged. All of that aside, if it doesn't happen in September, than Canelo should the Angulo/Lara winner. Let Cotto get another decent win first.

Stop acting like ODH sold that fight on his own. Floyd made 24/7 must see TV which drove fight sales through the cieling.
That is NOT what I'm saying, next time instead of inferring just ask me. Deal? My point is this, without Oscar giving Mayweather the shot, who knows how Mayweather's career course would have ended up. The world got a chance to see the Mayweather brand on full display courtesy of HBO 24/7, in addition to the wider sports coverage that Oscar brought to the table. That's my point. I agree that Mayweather helped to promote and sell the fight.

Okay...fair enough and at 22, what venues/events did Mayweather sell out?

That doesnt change anything in the grand scheme of things. The fact that both teams were able to come to terms is a good thing. If Floyd signs the contract on May 5th instead of signing it two months ago is it really gonna change anything? I say no. Floyd says hes fighting in Sept. If he was fighting anyone other than Canelo I would be shocked because their deal is already in place. Not much time to find another opponent and hammer out a deal.

              WBC and WBA #1 contender

Erislandy Lara from Cuba, deserves a chance to fight Canelo. Case close.

C'mon man, try harder...that article does NOT QUOTE MONEY or any of his people that such a contract existed. This is someone else account stating that Money promised a fight to Canelo. Money always says that he will fight anybody but he never specifically promises that an opponent is next in the media.. NEVER. It's their word against his.

Oh by the way, I want that other poster "Whoseyourdaddy" to find the link since he made such an outlandish claim.

How bout they just do the weigh in because thats all thats gonna happen. It will be one big staring contest. I dont want to watch Lara run around for 12 rounds while Canelo tires out chasing him. I definetly dont wanna pay for that sh_it fight.
