His rhythm was always extremely difficult for opponents to deal with. If you listen to interviews with guys who sparred with him who were top fighters in their own right (like Mikey Garcia and Donaire) it's that unpredictable rhythm they always point to.

He made it extremely difficult for opponents to set themselves either offensively or defensively against him, and he would always come back at guys with another combination just when they thought he was resetting himself.

I don't think he was a ring genius or anything approaching it but he was smart enough to take care of most guys out there, I don't think you could ever label him dumb.

Most fighters when up against Pac, fight scared, so appear as if they are smart.

Pac is smart, but confident, so appears reckless. Its cos he dont think anyone can beat him, so takes risks. He didnt think JMM could ko him. JMM did think Pac could ko him, so fought as if one punch from Pac could end the fight.

Pac knows how to win, so must be smart. Its just that Pac hasnt fought anyone that scares him when actually in the ring.

Pac is dumb in the sense he always wants to give a show to his fans. Sometimes he appears to hang in there to want to encourage people to fight. Other times when he has clearly won the round, he goes back and fights.

To me a dumb boxer doesn't use his attributes properly or squander them entirely, I don't think you can say Manny did not use his abilities properly.

Talk about talent all you want, but you can't make it as far as he has and get all his accomplishments by being a dumb brawler. You've got to have above average ring intelligence.

the in and out style that typified manny's WW run at his peak was a highly skilled display. very few fighters have used angles offensively and defensively in that manner to produce such offense. most guys who use the ring and move in and out are boxers. pacquiao would dart in and out, and about the ring, while picking spots to set his feet and f#cking batter people.

you're all forgetting just how good he was. the guy was dangerous, and highly skilled.

in his prime he had a great chin, and it would make up for any defensive liabilities that arose because of his offensive orientation.
Everything you said had nothing to do with his ring IQ

                  Manny is a smart(Very smart,great even)offensive fighter..But his defense is lacking,and honestly his biggest weakness..So I feel like he's a smart fighter,just not a complete one..

cotto won like 1 round. yeah he outboxed pac.

cotto did good with his jab like the 1st round.

then pac adjusted and started going over it the next round.

cotto didn't stop outboxing him because he wanted to, he was forced to.

some of you guys are clueless.
