If that's the case Rios is a genius.

I didn't define a smart boxer there, just what I feel a dumb boxer does. I also feel Rios squanders a lot of his positive attributes~ Margarito would be a better example but even with him, he was a tall guy who didn't fight tall.

You could make a case for Manny being more inventive or clever with his talents but still for the most part he used his talent in a proper way and got a lot out of them.

The point was it is not a matter of how good or talented a guy is, but if a guy makes the most of their talents. It might seem obvious but really a lot of guys don't fight to their strength, a talented guy who doesn't fight to that talent is a dumb fighter but a guy who isn't as talented who gets the most out of everything they have is at the very least average because they get that simple concept.

Yes he is smart. Most people are racist and in their minds Asians are either incredibly smart or outrageously ******. In comparison to the man they like to compare him to the most, no he is not as smart. Then again who is? His skill set makes him unique, to be able to cash in on that style to make it work for you takes constant trial and error. So that in itself makes him smart. He was beating the breaks off of people for years. I think recently over these last few fights he has become rather ******....but just because it looks like to me he started to question or doubt himself. Someone like Pac, or anybody at that high level of recognition just doesn't want up one day and become great.

If that's the case Rios is a genius.

Technical doesnt mean smart. If Rios started to Pot-shot and "box", would he be a better fighter? No he would probably lose every round to most mediocre fighters and wouldnt be where he is right now. Rios fights the best way he could and has been rather successful thus far
