Is Manny Pacquiao a smart boxer or a ****** boxer?

He's not dumb, for a guy that came from his background the guy is very resourceful.
Nobody that makes something out of nothing like Pacquiao should be called "dumb".

The question is somewhat misleading in my opinion.

Pacquiao is very "smart" in the ring, if we are talking about ring IQ. He knows what works for him and sticks to it, without attempting to do things he's not good at.
He forced most of his opponents to deal with his style,forcing -them- to adjust. That's the very definition of ring IQ.

On the other hand, if "smart" is used to say "slick", then of course, he is not.
He has/ had a good sense of timing, which allowed him to occasionally counter punch, but he lacks the technique (and probably the patience) to rely on such style.

He is not the kind of guy who sets traps with his footwork, nor a 'chess player' who studies your reactions and attempts to lure you into doing what he wants you to do.

He's a good boxer with smarts, but first and foremost he's a great fighter. There's a difference there, and sometimes the fighter in him gets him into trouble.

To me a dumb boxer doesn't use his attributes properly or squander them entirely, I don't think you can say Manny did not use his abilities properly.
