Is Manny Pacquiao a smart boxer or a ****** boxer?

In terms of Pacquiao in the ring is he smart or ******?

It's obvious he gets out-smarted by Marquez every time he fights him. Even though I thought Pacquiao won the first two fights and I thought he clearly won the first.

Overall he gets out-smarted and out-boxed by Marquez.

So, compared to the elite p4p fighters is he as smart as them? Can he adjust like the elite fighters? And if he faces someone that is just as athletic as him can he out think them?

No doubt Pacquiao is an amazing fighter but did he just win fights with his sheer determination, speed, power, and athletisim with little boxing intellgence?

Or is he just as smart as any fighter or almost every fighter on the p4p list?

    Discuss.

PAC is a come forward, no retreat slugger. Marquez is a ring genius and out smarted him. Now not every ring genius can do that to PAC cuz you gotta be willing to go thru hell and back with him. Not everybody had the heart or the balls to do so.

Manny relies on his natural talent in the ring and not so much his IQ. He never really adjust he just does the same thing over and over. It just depends on the pace he does it at. His ring IQ is pretty average though.

Well he was outboxed by Morales once, Marquez almost 3 times, Bradley showed some success when he was boxing in the last 4 rounds, Mosley using what little he had left in his legs, showed Pacquiao was uncomfortable and looked mediocre when he has to "chase" his opponent.

I would say he's average. He can be outboxed, and he can outbox a limited opponent like David Diaz and Antonio Margarito.

pacquiao's evidently a very underrated boxer, in terms of his skills.

he boxed margarito's doors off. same with oscar. now, margarito was always slow, and oscar was a tiny fraction of his former self, but that's what those performances were. they were boxing exhibitions.

the in and out style that typified manny's WW run at his peak was a highly skilled display. very few fighters have used angles offensively and defensively in that manner to produce such offense. most guys who use the ring and move in and out are boxers. pacquiao would dart in and out, and about the ring, while picking spots to set his feet and f#cking batter people.

you're all forgetting just how good he was. the guy was dangerous, and highly skilled.

in his prime he had a great chin, and it would make up for any defensive liabilities that arose because of his offensive orientation.

Smart boxer, but has so much natural athletic ability, and a great chin that he often becomes reckless.

You guys are the same guys that would call him a pu$$y if he played it smart, and took his time.

If you have his physical gifts, why not use them in spectacular fashion?

More of a determined physical freak than smart in the ring. Most of the time it works better than being a genius just like most warriors.

I think Pac's ring IQ is very high. His main problem is he still fights like he has something to prove, when he doesn't have to. He could stink out a joint if he really wanted to and due to his popularity and coast easy decisions but that isn't what his fans pay to see. Pac has shown that he can fight off the back foot with the best of them when he chooses. IMO, if he fought safety first, he would not be the peoples champ he is today.
