Is Manny Pacquiao a smart boxer or a ****** boxer?

Best Pacquiao related post ive read in a while.pacquiao's evidently a very underrated boxer, in terms of his skills.
he boxed margarito's doors off. same with oscar. now, margarito was always slow, and oscar was a tiny fraction of his former self, but that's what those performances were. they were boxing exhibitions.
the in and out style that typified manny's WW run at his peak was a highly skilled display. very few fighters have used angles offensively and defensively in that manner to produce such offense. most guys who use the ring and move in and out are boxers. pacquiao would dart in and out, and about the ring, while picking spots to set his feet and f#cking batter people.
you're all forgetting just how good he was. the guy was dangerous, and highly skilled.
in his prime he had a great chin, and it would make up for any defensive liabilities that arose because of his offensive orientation.
To the TS, Pac was only ever outboxed by very very good boxers, and even then he had enough athleticism to keep it close (barring Marquez ko). I wouldnt say he was the best at adjusting his game plan mid fight but in terms of picking shots and combinations theres not many who could out do him.Comment

right here ^^^I think Pac's ring IQ is very high. His main problem is he still fights like he has something to prove, when he doesn't have to. He could stink out a joint if he really wanted to and due to his popularity and coast easy decisions but that isn't what his fans pay to see. Pac has shown that he can fight off the back foot with the best of them when he chooses. IMO, if he fought safety first, he would not be the peoples champ he is today.
at times when u watch him fight it makes u think twice of who is the champion on the two fighters in the ring
then theres this voice telling u in ur mind
"there goes the champion chasing the challenger in the ring"

Fanboys see fighters with low boxing skill as warriors because these fans think these fighters are electing to fight that way when not realizing that these fighters can't fight any other way.
Lunging in and blocking shots with your head has nothing to do with heart or being a warrior.
Brawlers with great chins will look good against less then elite fighters. The moment these brawlers step up face first this happens. VVVVVVVVV

He may not be the smartest but you dont go blazing through the people he did being a thick **** and relying on Freddie Roach to figure your every move out.
He's clearly a smart chap in the ring. He may be a terrible business person but just raw talent and no smarts wouldnt have got him to the position he's in / been inComment

agreed. he had quite a few tricks.
with pacquaio, the most remarkable aspect of the fighter is obviously the talent. at his best he had unreal speed and power. he also had a great chin. we haven't seen a combination of speed, power, and a chin like that since probably ray leonard. i may be leaving somebody out, but who really had that kind of speed and power, with an iron chin, between manny and ray leonard?
pacquiao's beard was unreal at his best. it bailed him out of situations where a lesser fighter would get stopped.Comment
