Martinez trainer says no ward fight, moving to 154

Its not the same thing. Sergio is willing to move down to where Floyd is currently campaigning (154), if Ward was willing to move down to 160 THEN it'd be the same thing. Why don't people get that?Comment

Martinez has earned his dues. His fought the tough fights with little recognition. He rules the mw division and deservedly so. I'd love a fight with Geale more so than Golovkin, unless Golovkin can beat Geale. Either way, great fights but Martinez doesn't want the B crowd anymore, his done with them. He is only one of a handful of fighters over the last decade that I would say are truly great.
Mayweather and Cotto don't want a piece of Maravilla.
problem is none of those guys will mix it with him so maybe sergio should call them out. another thing is sergio is 37 now and in his last fight he took alot of punishment.
agreed that floyd probably won't fight sergio and thats fair play. floyd himself is a medium to small WW so fighting a big LMW is too much of a risk. however floyds cherry picking of fights at 154 is not good for boxing.Comment

agreed - dude has defeintely paid his dues and is entitled to chase the big fights with cotto, canelo or floyd.

Sergio took no punishment but the punishment he pretty much gave himself by breaking his hand and still mixing it up with Chavez Jr. Sergio only got hit a little bit in the last round yet he took a lot of punishment lol!
Floyd doesn't belong at 154lbs and never has. He arguable fought the best 154lbs. fighter in DLH and Cotto at the time... how the **** is that a cherry pick? If Floyd fights again at 154lbs it needs to be against the guy who brings the most money since there's still guys at 147lbs to fight where he belongs. The Pac fight needs to happen before a Martinez fight. Plus Sergio needs to prove he can comfortably make 154lbs and beat a legit guy. I'd like to see all these other bigger guys fight in their 5th weight division. Martinez @ 175lbs would be nice to see... would anyone give him a chance against Ward or Dawson?Comment

May-martinez at 160.. then I'll believe Floyd got some real balls. May-martinez at 154, good fight if sergio is just okay, but doesnt change the fact that floyd is still running from pac, for some very very ****** reasons.Comment

How's it not the same thing? Floyd currently owns both a 147lb. and 154lb. belt. He only moved up to fight Cotto. I doubt he moved up to stay at 154lbs... remember the last time he went to 154lbs he went back down to campaign at his true weight at 147lbs. Cotto and DLH were money fights and Martinez isn't. All the big fights happen because of money. Ward started at 160lbs and Martinez goes into the ring not much smaller than Ward. Ward was 176lbs vs Dawson while Martinez was 167lbs for Chavez Jr. Plus Chavez Jr was definitely bigger than Ward come fight night... Chavez Jr. was atleast 180lbs. It's less of a weight advantage for Ward than what Martinez would have on Floyd. It's ok for one guy to prey on a smaller guy but not for him to fight a bigger guy? Martinez will only fight a bigger guy if they have no speed, jab, or movement. Hell if Ortiz could make 147 and weighed 165lbs fight night than Martinez could do the same.Comment

If Martinez fought a guy on fight night that weighs more than what Ward does fight night than what's the big difference though?Comment

AND SERGIO IS NOT THE SAME AS OSCAR DE LA HOYA AND MIGUEL COTTO WHEN IT COMES TO BEING A MONEY DRAW therefore Floyd will not fight him at 154lbs! Floyd only fought Cotto and De La Hoya at 154lbs because it was a big payday.

Yes I know Floyd likes big money fights with little risk. That's well established.Comment
