Chavez did not force the fight, he barely threw a punch. If you don't know what forcing a fight is then maybe you should rethink which sport you watch.
He forced the fight as in, boxing Hopkins was not working, he was getting outboxed and picked off, so he adjusted to force the fight, meaning he threw shots when he usually wouldn't, he kept pressing the attack even if he was missing. He forced the action.

he couldn't hit hopkins and hopkins landed cleanly over and over. throwing punches to get close to your opponent then getting hit clean doesn't mean you are winning a boxing match. it means your opponent has better defense and is landing the clean punches. coming forward is not a scoring criteria otherwise chavez would have won.

you got it exactly right. he kept pressing even though he was missing while hopkins hit him. aka he lost.

As I explained in my original post, he would make a fight competitive and gritty with anyone in the opposite corner. He is a gritty fighter, this is what he did in the Hopkins fight, he got gritty and didn't give up after losing the earlier rounds. He pressed the action and eventually turned the tide and did just enough to pinch the win in most peoples eyes. Sorry you don't see it the same and are a clear hater.

i'm a hater because i feel hopkins won because he outlanded calzaghe by a wide margin in at least 7 of the rounds? why would i score a fight to a guy who got so outlanded? because he threw a lot and missed? no i'll follow the actual rules unlike you who likes to make up his own scoring criteria. coming forward and being gritty or clean punching and defense hmmmm i wonder which of these are in the official rules.....

We've had this argument before and you got horribly exposed for speaking **** and then you went off on a tangent posting your "go-to" videos and gifs of Calzaghe.

But after he cemented his great legacy one things for sure he's not coming back at 40 years old just so a young fighter can get a huge name champion on his resume. In fact had he lost a fight I doubt anyone would ever ask for him to come back. Fighters that retire undefeated at the elite level are very rare, on a pedestal almost and people just love to watch them fall.
he doesn't get the credit because his only wins were vs old legends, lacy & his signature win vs kessler. his WBO title reign means little because the WBO title was NOT recognized as a world title until mid 2000s. it was a regional title based out of europe & asia. look at it's history of past champions. any american who won the belt immediately vacated it for a world title shot. i have no idea why they started calling it a world title in the first place. it is the least recognized belt of the 4 so called world titles. the WBO belt gave you a top 10 ranking in the WBC up until around 2005. he had a good career but even at 46-0 he might not get in the hall of fame because of his "weaker" resume & unwillingness to go abroad until late in his career. his best win was definitely over kessler. he came on late in his career with some good wins but will it be enough for a HOF induction? it's questionable but time will tell...

But it's poor sportsmanship to let your nationalistic feelings lead you to belittle and discredit boxers from other countries.
It's a massive conspiracy against white European fighters, right Freedom T-T?

I like how you blatantly ignore the fact that Mayweather is the most hated fighter in all of boxing thanks to Americans lmao and the 2nd most hated aside of Ali. Even Ward is hated and called boring by Americans, he only made 750k for his fight with Froch, just 1.3 mill against Dawson, Dawson made just 600k, one of the biggest American fights in years, following your logic this should've been a mega fight lol. Even Pirog who's best win over Jacobs is making more than Ward.

When you look at Joes resume there is no way you can call him a legend.

                  His best wins:

-Hopkins, a controversial win, this fight was EXTREMELY close.
-Lacy, remind me who he beat after fighting Joe and WHO he beat before?
-Reid, most people had Reid winning this fight
-Kessler he won clearly, this is his best win
-Eubank, not only was he out of his prime (he even temporarily retired) but he took the fight on 11 days notice after he thought he was going to figh at LHW against someone else. This was his last fight at SMW before moving to 188, his 2 previous fights were at 177. Due to the weight change he was forced to drain himself 10+lbs in just a few days. Joe fought a severely weight drained, out of prime Eubank.

                  Does that honestly impress you?

That's simply not true, 'most people had Reid winning'. The Hopkins fight was hardly controversial too.

True that. Hopkins, as usual, came to spoil.
