Joe Calzaghe is an ATG and future HOF. Fact.

I have never seen so much BS in all my life as I have seen in this thread. Calzaghe waited for Hopkins to age? Some of you guys need to get your facts right. Ottke? Are you ****ing kidding me? That fight was never going to get made for one simple reason, Ottke would never have taken it anywhere apart from Germany, and considering the horrible robberies there. Warren was never letting Calzaghe go there, even though Warren tried to make the fight several times, and let's not pretend Ottke presented any kind of threat to Calzaghe regardless of his decision not to take the fight in Germany.

His resume is definitely lacking, but he demonstrated enough in his career that he would have stood the test of time against any MW, SMW or LHW. He would not have been a pushover for anyone. He was the victim of a poor era, he was a better fighter than Benn, Eubanks, Collins, all those guys have pretty much said the same. He struggled for the first 3-4 rounds against Kessler and then dominated him. He had a tight fight with a still top p4p fighter in Hopkins. He embarrassed Roy Jones, in a fight which is easy to assess in hindsight, but lots of you still picked Roy to win and at the very least be competitive.

I am a big fan of fighters...I call it how I see it. I have no agenda here, I don't think for a second that you can put Calzaghe's legacy above Hopkins or Jones, but he was a truly great fighter in his own right.

The "waiting for them to age" thing is funny.

Bernard Hopkins turned down a fight with Calzaghe in 2002.

People like to pretend that didn't happen.

Joe gets love from me but he is not an ATG or a legend. Good fighter that didn't fight the top fighters when it mattered.

His best wins were Jeff Lacy and Kesseler and that is not saying much. Even his Hopkins fight was so close he could had lost it and he got a givet somewhere in that record against one of his own country man.

His hardcore fans a delusional and is why he gets the hate. To retire with an undefeated record doesn't automatically make you a ATG

That's because Hopkins refused to fight Calzaghe in his own backyard.
