I think a lot of u would be surprised how these avoided warriors would become diva's if their circumstances allowed it. A good example is Bradley clearly avoiding Khan which i really didnt have a problem with because i knew he had the Pac fight in mind which was a bigger chance. He weighed risk vs reward and made a business dec.
Why is Lara getting all this hype?

Im not defending anything but i live in the real world and i dont use words like scared and duck as easy as many of u guys use it because its just not that simple.Oh, the business of boxing. It's simply dumbfounding what fight fans defend & allow nowadays. Lil ginger is a star, so he should not fight the title contenders & be handfed stiffs to preserve a showdown with Floyd or Cotto.
Meanwhile the title contenders should beat the crap out of 1 another hoping to earn a shot at ginger. Then i'm left wondering if anyone see's that this is the reason mma is talking over.Comment

I was unaware of the Mayweather comments, Malik; but I don't see how a mega-money Floyd fight doesn't make sense. First, there's the money. Second, there's the experience. Third, the chance, however slight, of a victory against the recognized #1 P4P fighter in the world. "Canelo" probably wouldn't take a beating in the loss, and he would get a pass based on the quality of opposition and his relative inexperience. I think Alvarez and Golden Boy would have nothing to lose and much to gain.Canelo's management admitted to Canelo not being ready for Mayweather immediately following the Mosley bout. And you and i both know that fight isn't gonna happen. And that's a sure L that Canelo would take early in his career...so if Lara & Molina don't make sense, Mayweather at this stage in his career DEFINITELY doesn't make sense. None of that hype would have been around if Mayweather would've been a free man right now and ready come September.Comment

Scared & duck aren't the same. But if ginger doesn't fight Lara to preserve a possible showdown with Floyd......................it is ducking.Comment

Last time I checked Macklin was rated higher at the time of their fight than Pirog, Golovkin, and all the other stiffs who people are saying Martinez has ducked. He fights and dominates those guys and then what happens? People just say he beat more "euro trash." Pirog and Golovkin have fought a grand total of no one. The winner of their fight absolutely deserves the winner of Martinez-Chavez, but why exactly does Martinez get crushed for not fighting these guys when no one clamors for Jr to fight them? Just because Chavez has more name value? The double standards on this board are ridiculous.Last edited by b0ndsj0ns20; 07-01-2012, 11:28 AM.Comment

That's my point. I understand boxing is a business, as it should be. An athlete, in any sport, especially a contact sport with such short careers, should maximize their earning potential.
But in no other sport is a CLEAR contender getting ducked reasonable. None. You watch the UFC, and 9 times out of 10, if u beat a dude with a big name, u are getting a big named fight. Whether ur a Mexican superstar from Oxnard or a no-name jiu-jitsu practicioner from Nagoya, Japan with no following. Fans see the fight, they like what they see, and they demand for you to get a shot at the top guy of the division. If you win, u are the next heralded champion, if you lose, they discard you and you either sink into oblivion or fight ur way back to a title shot.
No one gave a f**k who Chael Sonnen was when he got his shot with Silva, or that he had no "drawing" power.Comment
