The problem with your argument is that when Floyd fought Oscar, Floyd wasn't a PPV seller or superstar like Oscar was. Floyd wasn't even close getting numbers like Oscar was. You want Pacquiao to bow down to Floyd but yet he has similar numbers to Floyd. Both are superstars in the sport. Pac had 1.2M (Margarito), 1.3M (Mosley), 1.4M (Marquez III) buys in his past three fights.

I do agree though that he suffers from that Roy Jones syndrome where its not his fault that bigger fights didn't happen.
Instead of fighting Paul Williams, he fought Ricky Hatton, the #8 P4P fighter in the world, who people said he was avoiding, no problem there. Tons of people at 147 didn't fight Paul Williams, oh well. It's not like Floyd took an easy fight with Top 10 P4P Hatton to avoid Paul Williams. Margarito in 07-08 wouldn't have mattered for Floyd, it would have in 05-06 when I think he should have fought him. The only names that people say Floyd "avoided" where I really think he found a way around it was Margarito in 2005-2006. He should have taken that fight. Maybe he knew Oscar was there to fight in 2007 and didn't want to risk it, I don't know, we'd have to ask Floyd.

Floyd wanted to fight Cotto in 04-05. It was only after Floyd dumped TR that the duck campaign began. And I don't think it's any coincidence that Floyd-Cotto is made the second Cotto leaves TR, and at least he's getting a past prime-still good Cotto on his resume. And Shane was there in 2005-2006, not Floyd's fault. Floyd wasn't the one saying he had trips planned and that he may need dentures, that was Shane. Floyd still got Shane on there while Shane TKO'd Margarito, was the Top ranked WW and Top 10 P4P still, though he was past it.

Oh no doubt. But I don't think anyone knew floyd/odh would do those numbers. But floyd did his thing on 24/7. Ultimately, thats what I think manny could do here. He can take short money and then take advantage of the platform afforded him.

But you're acting as if Manny is just another name. Manny and Floyd do similar numbers. Why would Manny take short money when he is just almost or just as big as Floyd in bringing in numbers?

I agree that Floyd-Pac should be 50-50, or at the very least 55-45, Floyd still sells more usually though.

Common opponents (since becoming big big PPV draws):

              Pac-De La Hoya: 1.25 million
              Floyd-De La Hoya: 2.45 million

              Pac-Hatton: 850K
              Floyd-Hatton: 920K

              Pac-Mosley: 1.3 million
              Floyd-Mosley: 1.4 million

              Pac-JMM: 1.4 million
              Floyd-JMM: 1.1 million

              Pac-Cotto: 1.25 million
              Floyd-Cotto:?????

Other opponents since becoming big big PPV draws:

              Pac-Clottey: 750K
              Pac-Margarito: 1.15 million

              Floyd-Ortiz: 1.25 million

Floyd sold more with Shane, Oscar, and Hatton. Pac sold more with Marquez, but you can't argue that the cirumstances around Marquez were much much different in those fights. When Floyd fought Marquez, the largest PPV Marquez had been on was with Pac in early 2008 that sold 400-450K PPV's. Selling 1.1 million with Marquez was huge at that point. Pac did sell 1.4 million with Marquez, but he'd been on a major PPV that sold over 1 million PPV's at that point, still out sold Floyd with him, though it was the only1 of the 4 common ones, and Floyd will probably sell more with Cotto as well.

And the other opponents, Pac did a not very good 750K with Clottey, and a solid/really good 1.15 million with Margarito. Still, Floyd sold 1.25 million with Ortiz, the same that Pac sold with Oscar and Cotto, and 100K more than Pac sold with Margarito, who's a bigger draw that Ortiz fan wise.

Why do you have to term it "bow down"? WHy so negatively extreme? I'm not asking manny to bow down, I'm asking him to do the same as floyd did with ODH, take a ****ty deal and take advantage of the platform.

Yes manny has sold big numbers, but he is 1 million clear of 2.44 mil. He and his sponsors should be able to capitalize of the increased exsposure.

Ellerbe Is On The Mayweather Payroll; What Else Is He Going To Say?!!?

Mayweather, the greatest of all time??????? Ellerbe needs to be drug tested, then drug tested again. When you consider the level of competition the likes of Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello, fought in the primes of their careers, MULTIPLE times they fought the Best of the Best in THEIR primes, Win, Lose, or Draw... NEVER letting "money" get in the way of what we called "Super-Fights" coming together, becoming reality, THERE IS NO COMPARISON between Floyd Mayweather, and the beforementioned LEGENDS named. Floyd Mayweather has HAND-PICKED his career to a perfect "0", undefeated record. That means NOTHING. If "lead with your chin" Arturo Gatti, Castillo, a 40 year old Shane Mosley, a 37 year old, 25lbs light Juan Manuel Marquez, and Zab Judah are the best Floyd can come up with, while calling himself the Greatest of All Time.... his whole camp on the payroll are dilusional. Now he's hoping to have caught Cotto well past his prime. He's made Mosley and Cotto wait for more than 10 years to fight him. Floyd STILL won't fight Pacquiao, because Manny still has game and is too dangerous. The ONE fight Floyd took, while his opponent was in his prime was Dela Hoya, and MOST felt Oscar won that fight. IN FACT, Floyd walked away from a $25M rematch with Dela Hoya. Floyd Mayweather is nowhere close to being considered as the Greatest of All Times, ahead of the likes of Robinson, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Arguello.... everyone of these Legends, if they could have gotten Floyd in the ring, would have dismantled Floyd.

No i'm not. Respectfully, you are taking a negatively extreme approach to analyzing my argument. I am not knocking manny in any way. Manny has the option to take less for the opportunity to be part of the largest fight in history.

Floyd Mayweather, like him or not, has already done this. All I am doing is holding them to the same standard, with the caveat that yes manny has sold more at this point than floyd did at the time of the odh fight.
