Stop saying Floyd doesn't use his legs. He doesn't use them because he wants to employ a more aggressive style. And unlike some he knows how to cut the ring off.
    That's exactly what he does.

That's not an excuse that's the truth. His opponents got tired, stopped moving and allowed him to get closer and closer so he was able to do more damage and eventually stop them.

The problem with Floyd is that he's not Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whittaker who would fight anybody at any weight class. Floyd take a page from dat book
because you wont fight anybody your not sure you can beat! (Coward!)

Martinez is bigger, has great handspeed, footwork, & genuine 1 punch ko power. He also posses's the ability to adapt mid-fight that everyone adores about Floyd.

He'll be bigger, (his footwork right now IMO is more effective than Floyd's). Can Floyd handle the Martinez offence that has slept middlweights? Combined with his own speed, power & southpaw stance?
Yep, I think you and Grustler are spot on. Cotto will be like a sparring session for Floyd. Not to beat up on Cotto, he's a true champ, I just think his only chance is to catch Floyd and I don't see that happening. I think people don't understand the size and speed Martinez brings into the ring. Sometimes you see a match up where on guy's physical attributes just outweigh the other opponents skill set. In no way am I dogging Floyd, hell I'd still give him a good chance. I just think Sergio just might be too much for him to deal with from a physical standpoint.

Those who are saying Floyd picks him apart easily and boxes circles around him just can't see the writing on the wall. You mentioned that Floyd hasn't used his legs in awile, and i totally agree. He definitely would be forced to do that in this fight. I mean seriously the guy got buzzed against Mosely while standing flat footed in front of him in the center of the ring. That was two years ago and Mosely was at 147! Martinez is a whole different animal at 160, Floyd is not standing in front of him and walking him down, that's for sure.

Are you kiddin me? Did you not see the last Martinez fight where he was backpeddlin from a mediocre fighter? Martinez did quite a bit of running the entire fight. How did you not see that?

Posters on here know me as a guy who respects Floyd technical skill set as a fighter and though no one could take him until Sergio Martinez. Sergio Martinez has a better chance at beating Mayweather than anyone I've seen. Imagine if Martinez caught Floyd with a punch similar to what Mosley hit him with? Floyd would be asleep. Floyd is a very, very good boxer but he has been tagged cleanly before by lesser fighters than Martinez.

I just don't see how people say Martinez has no skills or isn't that good when he is putting fighters to sleep by KO and systematically breaking them down. I think people just listen to what guys like Larry Merchant says and run with it. I analyze styles and in no way Sergio Martinez is a weak fighter. He has KO'd his last 4 opponents. Macklin got robbed in the Sturm fight, the same guy he got robbed in the De La Hoya fight and Sergio flattened Macklin. I'm not sleeping on Martinez.
Mosley is a more skilled boxer and a smarter boxer than Sergio Martinez. Martinez is a wild and awkward fighter who has been very successful against guys who lack fundamentals. But like Pacquaio and Prince Naseem -- their wild awkward styles are exposed when facing a boxing technician. It is only then that you see their styles is actually amateurish.

If Martinez fought Marquez -- Marquez too would just pick him apart and school him the same damned way he did Pacquaio. Why? Because Marquez has a much higher boxing IQ and has much better boxing skills.

Martinez is way overrated. Don't get me wrong he's a good fighter but who has he fought?? Martinez have been fighting guys who can't hurt him. Martinez won't be keeping his hands down if he's up against a guy that can catch him and hurt him.

"Running" huh? I think your missing what I'm saying. I never said Martinez is the most fundamentally sound fighter, but he is simply more athletically gifted than most of the fighters he gets in the ring with and he is bigger, stronger, and faster than anyone Floyd has been in the ring with. Those attributes as well as having an awkward style is the reason he would be tough to deal with. He's knocking out middlweights! You mentioned Marquez easily out pointing Martinez, I hope your trolling with that comment. Marquez is geat, a true legend, but he is now a blown up lightweight trying to make money before he retires, and your telling me he beats Martinez the middleweight champion of the world?

I think floyd gets rocked and maybe even knocked down, but winning a hard fought decision if he gets up! Martinez is a freaking beast, dont understand why people think folyd would just walk through him, size matters in boxing... Im sure martinez wouldnt fight with his hands down. He better not!
