Would pernell whitaker even have trouble with somebody like castillo?

Ill answer that one for you young *****. No pernell wouldnt have trouble with cesar chavez's sparring partner.

      GTFO with this ridiculous bullcrap.
You'll never find a fighter that was perfect against everyone.

Why is Floyd not throwing combinations a negative? He chooses to be selective because that's part of his gameplan. This is a special attribute that should be noted when you're debating how well rounded a fighter is. If he has a skill that's not popular at all, yet he excels at it? That's gotta be a positive attribute for a well rounded fighter.

Mayweather can't knock you out and he can't put good combinations together. His workrate is low as well.

He's not well rounded he's just one of the best counter punchers and defensive fighters ever. That's about it.

Duran, Hagler and Leonard were much more well rounded.

Duran was fast, could put combinations together, hit hard, had a iron chin, tons of stamina, high workrate, excellent defense, could attack and counter punch.

Mayweather is limited but it's a good limitation, very hard to out box.

I will also say Floyd is a champion and has heart, he'll fight all 12 rounds.

            another good post
it's becoming abundantly clear that most of the guys in the thread have no idea what constitutes a complete fighter

and they certainly arent qualified to compare anybody's completeness to the completeness of others in a historic sense

frankly, if you came up with a list of truely well rounded fighters, they probably wouldn't recognize any of the names

how you call the purest boxer of his generation (with very little punch and a moderately questionable chin after the mosley fight,) the most well rounded?

pernell, leonard, hagler, duran... obviously robinson.

floyd definitely one of the most talented. but i honestly have a hard time thinking he would be as dominant if he shared the same era as the fighters above.

He's up there, no doubt. He has no weaknesses really when you think about it. His biggest strength IMO is the way he adapts to everyone's style and he can do it in a few rounds.

Pernell had worse power and discipline. Leonard didn't always use the best gameplan (Duran I). Duran could be outboxed and had poor discipline. Robinson had worse defense and fought ******ly a lot of the time, unnecessarily slugging. I don't think any of these guys were clearly more well rounded.

I still say that we have to stop using boxers of the past to evaluate boxers of today. I was also a victim of this statement. I used to think that guys back in the day were the best.

My uncle fought Archie (lost) and Randy Turpin(won). I would always hear how amazing these fights were. Until I watched the video. These fighters back in the day all got hit (a lot). Some of them took it better than others. Some of them lasted longer than others. At the end of the day I felt as though stamina and punch rate won MOST of these fights (maybe until the Ali era).

But Floyd has learnt how to combine all of the previous attributes of these past fighters and churn it into a total package of efficiency and accuracy. i think its amazing. Roy was great but when his speed faded he faded and to me he never fully learned the art.

I seriously doubt you've watched any fighters from further back than say 10 years ago.....yet you're claiming Floyd has somehow "evolved" into some sort of higher level of being as a fighter than those fighters you've never even seen: A laughable proposition if it wasn't for the fact it's so ****ing sad that you actually believe it.

I will not demonstrate anything to you. Who are you but a guy on the internet who really wants to talk about evolution. As I have said before lets keep it boxing.
