    Happy now?

I eagerly await your response saying they're all bums who Andre Ward would run circles around, knock out, and then have sex with their girlfriends.

Robin Reid, Omar Sheika and Mario Veit aren't bums. They're ESPN2 quality fighters. Kind of like the guys Ward was beating before the Super Six (Edison Miranda-type). Same goes for Lacy AFTER Calzaghe. I will at least give Calzaghe credit for ruining Lacy as a fighter since Lacy beat some of those guys you just mentioned as quality opponents. If I'm not mistaken though, Reid fought Calzaghe decently close. That's not such a great win when looked at that way.

But are you sitting there and telling me that a close win over an old Hopkins, a decently competitive win over Kessler and a shutout over a shot Roy Jones > dominating and nearly KOing Kessler, shutting out Arthur Abraham and shutting out Carl Froch? I just don't see it.

Is that the same Arthur Abraham who made Carl Froch look like Ray Leonard?

As for "shutting out", that was my point earlier: he DIDN'T. Sure, he was pretty much dominant in both Froch and Abraham fights, but as a FACT, he didn't. A "shut out" is all 12 rounds, not "as good as". I'm simply highlighting the disparity between hyperbole and statement of fact.

My reason for mentioning this earlier was because of the fanboy notion of quoting personal stats as objective fact. Sure, you, me and everyone else may have seen the Froch bout as a dominant one for Ward, but on record it's down as a 115-113 by majority paid decision, however ludicrous that seems.

My point - which I thought was OBVIOUS - was that a poster stated that Ward beat Froch 10-2. Wheras, as a FACTUAL occurence, he DIDN'T.

Yes, Froch shut him out too. I don't think Froch's shut out was any better than Ward's though. They were both shutouts. Froch is a very good fighter. I thought he drew with Kessler as well. He also KO'd Taylor in a fight he was losing, but was seriously outclassed by Dirrell.

I scored the Dirrell bout 115-113 Andre, like all good bias Brits should do.

So beating an all time great and insanely athletic/intelligent future hall of famer in a fight that's close doesn't mean as much as handily outpointing two stiff, plodding, robotic fighters (Abraham, and Kessler)?

            What planet are you from?

Abraham is probably one of the worst "boxers" I've seen in the last decade. He's a guy who's gotten to where he is on freakish strength alone. Were he not a tremendous puncher, he'd be a level below even the "ESPN guys" you speak of.

Calzaghe has the better career as of now.

Turbotime sums it up quite well, especially with his choice of "as of now".

There's no doubt Ward will have the better career/resume when all is said and done, given his youth, and current standing. (Unless he goes all "Jermain Taylor" on us.)

So this conversation is entirely pointless.

To be fair, you could see Sad Intentions coming a mile off, couldn't you? And when I predicted it I was a "bias Brit".

i like andre ward i think he is a very good solid fighter but calzaghe was abit special

very unconventional style and he wasn't scared of a fight either

ward still holds too much on the inside for me but he is going to be a force in boxing in the coming years no doubt

for me calzaghe was better though

Calzaghe has the better resume as it stands, solely because his win over Hopkins.

At 168, (One in which Calzaghe is recognised as the greatest of all time at the weight), Ward's is pretty much even if not better.

                      Which shows two things;

The 168 Division has weak history.

And the fact Ward has pretty much matched Calzaghe's resume at 168 in 2 years of fighting quality opposition is a testament to how poor Joe Calzaghe's resume is.

All I see in this thread is; "He would have done this. He would have done that".

That's the story of his career.
