    Terrible Idea.

I remember when Cotto was being interviewed in training for Pacquiao and a reporter asked Cotto how he will deal with Pacs speed.

Cotto said: I'm just as fast.

Right then and there I knew it was a wrap.

However if Floyd request as much money as he is accustomed to, then in no way will this be Cotto's biggest money fight.
I can see that fight doing about 1.3mil, which is barely more than 1.25 that Floyd did with Ortiz.

And if Ortiz got about 2.5mil, and Cotto is expected to get a minimum of lets say 10mil, then i dont see how Floyd will agree to such a split, considering itll mean he has to make less than he did against Ortiz, and he wont have any of that.
thats what im saying, floyd will never allow cotto to get a decent share, not after pac had already beaten cotto. why would floyd allow cotto to get a decent cut when cotto wont do floyd any good if floyd beats him? it will just be a guy that pac beaten already.

Well he certainly was served a large chunk of humble pie

I'm sure a new interview would reveal a different outlook on the fight from his perpestive and I imagine that the gameplan would be to keep him at bay w/ jabs and off-balance with pivots and tie him up a little, which I'm surprised he did on Saturday.

Either way, if he doesn't touch Pac's body at all, then it'll truly be a wrap early

Im not gonna say he will beat him but he does have a better chance. This is coming from a cotto fan but at the same time im realistic about the outcome!
agreed, if it was an easy fight the fight would have been signed already. theres risk in fighting pac thats why theres ost demands and such. but this is another topic for another day lol.

Floyd could just fight Berto, and take 95% of the share again.

Why would he fight Cotto and get a smaller cut?

Are you saying Floyd would get a smaller share than Cotto?

is there a reason there needs to be a second fight? i dont get it. i dont blame cotto tho. hes doing what hes gotta do. that doesnt excuse the fact that this fight still wont be competitive.

yea floyd would allow cotto to get a BIG share huh. cotto would make more fighting pac again than fighting floyd. the hype if cotto fight pac again will be huge. cotto destroyed marg and has a new trainer its a new and improve cotto. what hype will there be if theres a cotto vs floyd? one guy that didnt wanna fight manny while the other guy got beaten by manny? lol.. and the rest im not even gonna waste my time on but say your dreaming. all that later down the road crap lol. and u do hate bob look u mention his name again LOL!!
It doesn't appear as if you want to have a serious conversation. Again I mention Bob because he runs TR and I think its financially better for Cotto to leave TR.

Cotto would get between $8 and $10 mil I would guess. Thats essentially the guarantee Shane had and I believe this fight would sell more.

I am sure a floyd cotto fight on May 5th, would sell about 1.5 mil ppv's give or take. Its not about who didn't fight manny, its about the #1 and #3 ppv draws fighting one another. Manny will not make his promoter make the May 5th fight because of testing, i mean guaranteed purse, I mean a cut healing. He isn't relevant to the discussion.

Like it or not, Canelo is filling arenas. GBP need the right ppv fight to break him out and I think a cotto fight, after cotto fights floyd, setting up a future floyd fight for canelo.

Doubt he fights Pacquiao, truthfully. If he's staying at 154, the only fights for the money that make sense are Chavez Jr and Canelo. If he is getting guaranteed $7 mill a fight, not sure what other promotion is going to give him that. I'm not even sure GBP would give Cotto that (though I did hear something about GBP X Cotto Promotions joint deal last month that might've pushed through after the Margarito fight. Could be BS though).

I think he means that fighting someone like Berto, Floyd will command however much he will, like whatever 95%

Whereas Miguel Cotto isn't going to fight Floyd for 5% and it'd have to be a 65/35 or 60/40 divide in the purse.
