Well GPB and Mayweather seem to take that # serious given the fact that they are reluctant to release the news of their reported 1.1 - 1.2mil ppv figure. The only logical conclusion that I can come up with for why they havent released the official #'s for Floyd/Ortiz was because it did less than 1.3mil. Once again, I'm aware that Showtime never made an official statement on the Pac/Mosley #'s, but the word is it did 1.3mil buys, and given the fact that Pac just did 700k against Clottey, a fighter with absolutey zero fanbase, followed by 1.4mil buys against Margarito, 1.3 against Mosley doesnt seem like a stretch.

I stand corrected. Thanks. Last I read, they were reporting the fight did 1.4.

You can't have it both ways. Officially, niether company has released the figures.

On Arum's, because Manny didn't outsell floyd again with a similiar opponent then 50/50 is out the window. On Mayweather's end, if you read the ny times article on his business model, it means he didn't pull in the $40 mil he wanted because the fight didn't do 1.4 mil. Unfortunately for Floyd, too many people took the closed circuit/theatre option which cut into profits. According to all reports, movie house business was up significantly.

It seems clear each fight didn't reach the speculative number. I'm sure the JMM/MArquez number, which should do more than 1.2 mil, will be released rather quickly.

            Also I think Manny/Marg didn't reach 1.2 mil.

Honestly though, 1 million is effin fantastic and nothing to be ashamed of.
Also seroiusly, why is everybody assuming everyone bought the fight in HD?
              70 dollars for HD
              65 for regular
I see everyone saying, oh, well at 70 dollars a pop it still did a lot!
              Not everybody bought HD.
even for the biggest star 1 million is good, see Oscar who is bigger star than either Pac or Floyd still have less than 1M PPV, so I really dont buy the argument that it makes floyd look bad, BUT I do buy the argument that maybe it did not do as well as Pac-Mosley that's why they are keeping lowkey...

I have to agree with hougigo here add 24/7, Mexican Holiday, Pac's Mexican fans, Mexican centric undercard (not mention Erik Morales is their) plus the fact that more people will give Ortiz a better chance against manny, IMHO Manny-Ortiz under the same circumstances of Floyd-Ortiz would even sellout the latter...

1M buys is good considering the PPV was $10 more expensive than the regular PPV price.

They made as much money off 1M @ $70 as they would have with 1.167M @ $60.

Nobody is refuting this. 1mil is good! The question is, why the reluctancy to release the #? Mark Taffet was asked directly and he deflected the question towards the promoters.
