Floyd created this mess by constantly bragging about his ppv #'s. Therefore the buy rates for his fights are going to be closely scrutinized. When you call yourself the "cash cow of boxing" and the "ppv king", then your #'s better reflect that. When they dont.....then you get what we're getting now. The silent treament about how many buys the fight had.

Is this really a mess though? And as much as I stay out of these "ppv" debates and "who is the bigger draw talk", the numbers reflect that he is the biggest PPV draw in the sport right now.

i have no beef with them taking forever to release numbers... theyre pulling an arum move. trying to squeeze every drop.

but i honestly thought it shouldve pulled big numbers.... floyd/ortiz was in EVERY sportsbar in my area... so it SHOULDVE had big closed-circuit numbers... plus the hype on this fight was bigger than any top rank promotion lately... i feel like GBP does a better job making hype.

1.1 is very good. The expectations were too high for this fight, Marquez is more well known than Ortiz and the fight with Marquez, in his comeback fight, did 1.1.

Yes its a mess for Floyd and GBP because now the pressure is on them to release the official #'s after initially reporting that the fight did 1.3mil when in fact the rumors are that the fight did anywhere from 850k - 1.1mil

As for Floyd being the biggest draw, that very well maybe true. The thing is, he's had no problem in the past boasting about his ppv buys when they were highly successful. Why go mum all of a sudden and withhold the info regarding the buy #'s?

I don't think it's in danger at all. Over a mil ppv buys for fighting Ortiz is a success. Ortiz has no fanbase what so ever.
