And, the venue pays them to host it. Because, they make their money in other areas like rooms, casino play etc etc...I'm not even counting the ticket sales...That's another 7 figures.

And, "event for this magnitude"? They didn't hype this one like Oscar-Tito or Oscar-Floyd. So lets not act like they spend so much promotion on this fight...Did they? Yes, Was it what their hope? No. Has this happened before? yes...Is it a disappointment? Not if they made profit.

You think the promotes spend a 100million in promotion? Where you get the number 100 from?

Even look at this way. Lets say the real number is 500k. That's 35mil dollars in just PPV. Not counting the what the MGM or MB paid to host it(since they have running partnership with GBP) nor the ticket sales nor closed circut buys(including: theaters) just purely PPV. Floyd was guaranteed what? 20mil? That leaves 15mil, Ortiz got what guaranteed?2mil? Lets say 5mil...That still leaves 10mil for the upside....Now you not counting all the other income that's coming in, as in ticket sales nor closed circut money.

And, that's if it did 500k...So imagine if it did the around a mili? Everyone is getting paid...Even if it did the 850kbuys at 70 a pop plus the income they generated in...Yes everyone is getting paid...Only an ignorant idiot think they not

But, neither one of them is a F'ing disappointment. You F'ing moron. It's that difficult to understand? Anything around a mili mark means everyone not just two fighters is laughing to the bank.

And, if everyone is making money. Then it's not disappointment at all. Just STFU, fans like you are an F'ing disgrace. Stop being on your knees so damn much for a fighter.

I really dont buy that B.S. but if it is true and its about outselling PAC-Mosley and leading to PAC negotiation, It would be an optimistic sign that the fight will happen soon...
1.1 still isn't good compared to what they thought it'd sell and after all the promoting of him being the biggest star in boxing, IMO it just doesn't sound good.
Honestly though, 1 million is effin fantastic and nothing to be ashamed of.
Also seroiusly, why is everybody assuming everyone bought the fight in HD?
        70 dollars for HD
        65 for regular
I see everyone saying, oh, well at 70 dollars a pop it still did a lot!
        Not everybody bought HD.

1.1million is not bad at all against Victor Ortiz. No way Pacquiao could do 1million+ against Ortiz...

I expected 1.3, so 1.1M isn't bad at all, I hope they lower the price on these PPVs too.

People need to stop speculating and let the numbers come out.

I beg to differ. If he could pull 750K from Clottey, he could definitely get over a million with Ortiz.

I'm with you on this. I am just a fan, I dont profit or gain in any way from fighters PPV revenues and if people just blindly keep shelling out silly money for this crap the more the promoters, tv companies and fighters will give us.

If I spend my money on a PPV event I want value for money. People spending the kind of money they are on Floyd and Manny's fights is almost an act of self preparation for the day they do eventually fight and they want to charge us over $100/£75 to see it.

                  Hope both the fuckers bomb!

Pac did 700k against a fighter from Ghana who has maybe 4 fans in the ENTIRE U.S. Not to mention, it was with a weak undercard and no HBO 24/7. Floyd's undercard against Ortiz featured a Mexican Legend (Morales) and a very popular up and coming fighter (Canelo). Lets also not forget that this all took place on a Mexican holiday in which has boxing has become a tradition.

The fact that Taffet refuses to release the #'s can only be conveyed 2 ways. Either it fell FAR low from expectation. I'd say less than a mil since anything 1mil or better would be a huge success and therefore should have been announced. Or they're concerned that announcing it did less than Pac's reported 1.3mil buys against Mosley could hinder Floyd's negotiating power at the tables when/if a fight with him and Pac ever materializes.

You make good points but SHowtime has yet to release the figures from Manny and Mosley. 1.3 mil was Bob's number but not confirmed by Showtime. It seems niether fight reached expectations.
