It not a success but a failure if Mayweather expected to get $40 mill with, I think a$20-25 Mill guarantee. Whe you take opponent's and the whole card's fighters, plus ALL other expenses even down to the paper cups and napkins, not to mention the 50% of the PPV taken by the TV people putting on the PPV, Mayweather will be lucky to get his guarantee, and Golden Balls will have lost a bundle.

Goden Balls have a reputation for including theatre seats and other non PPV venues in their totals o give an inflated total figure. So we'll never properly know the truth, which is really whatever Golden Balls and mayweather want us

And, yes any event that does around a mili buys and be highest charged PPV of all time. Then yes everyone is making money...

How much was this event? $70 bucks? How much for HD? Lets keep 70bucks...times that by a million. And, how much do you have? $70 million dollars. Floyd takes home what? 40mil of those 70....Ortiz? What like 15 the most(and I'm pretty sure it's way less than that...That leaves what? 15mil(as the minimum) and you don't think everyone is getting paid? GTFOH
The media company whicb actually screens the PPV gets 50% of the PPV receipts as I understand. That leaves a HUGE hole in your calculations, and the promoters themselves also have to pay, by contract, for EVERYTHING, the fighters, opponents, arenas, hotels food, meals, all boxers teams, advertizing, paper cups spoons and paper napkins etc, right down to the most insignificant thing, besides a huge staff planning this for months etc.

I thing Golden Balls lost a bundle, and am not prepared to accept their figures as they have a long history of including ordinary $10-15 seats aas PPV. So I believe that we'll never hear the genuine truth.

Personally, I don't think GBP lost money. They have internal test/marking that has the real estimate. Since FLoyd promotes part of the event, does he NOT have to pay for some of the cost?

lolz the only funny thing here for me is, why would anyone hide 1M PPV Buys? Is Floyd that big to be ashmed of 1 million buys??

I really dont buy that B.S. but if it is true and its about outselling PAC-Mosley and leading to PAC negotiation, It would be an optimistic sign that the fight will happen soon...

I think the numbers might be so bad that Richard Schafer sent the letter containing them to be hidden far, far away in a secret place, Raiders of the lost ark style.

FACEPALM... no ESPN reported ARUM saying the fight did 1.3mil not Showtime, why do you think Showtime hasn't confirmed Arum's quote? How can numbers be released by ESPN if Showtime hasn't given out the numbers? Comprehende?

1.1 isn't bad, considering it was the most expensive PPV to date. The Pac-Mosley PPV was 60$, this was 70$, or a 17% increase. If you translate that to PPV buys, this 1.1 equals to almost 1.3 in terms of profit.

Based on the fact that Floyd fought Ortiz, a non PPV star, and the fight had no back story (except for being a comeback), it's not too bad. Show me a fight where Pac fought a nobody and did so much? Pac-Clottey, was that 700k? If you assume Canelo and Morales drew about 300k, Floyd's not doing too bad.

Uhh...that 1.3 million has been floating out there for ages now.

If anyone with insider information knew the number was very far from 1.3 million there would at least be rumors about it.

[e.g like that 850k rumor about mayweather]

Putting whatever you think about them aside for a minute:

Arum said we have 1.3 million

Schaefer, when last asked, said we have 1 million and counting.

One is a solidified statement ; the other is a guess which has not yet been confirmed.

Whehter you believe arum or not its up to you: I say that if reputable media outlets and their sources are in agreement over the 1.3 million [which they are] its safe to assume that number....are there any specific numbers thrown around pertaining to the 1.3 million not being true?
