IMO, the top rank four, like paul williams, get overrated because floyd never fought them
Well I disagree but OK.

It means hatton, ODH, and Mosley wins would be more crdible if those fighters hadn't have fought floyd 1st because floyd diminished what was left of their "aura" for lack of a better word.
Well their "aura" were gone prior to Floyd fighting them. Especially Oscar and Mosley had no "aura" whatsoever. If so, what "aura" did they have?

I think your point about Morales is fair, but I think his performance speaks more about maybe us over evaluating Maidana, particulalrly against a boxer. The point is floyd showed these fighters were not at an elite level prior to MAnny fighting them. I think JMM fits into this as well.
The same can be said about Floyd opponents though.
Floyd fought Jose L Castillo TWICE, whom Pac ducked later on.
Floyd fought an unbeaten Corrales, whom Pac also ducked later on.
Floyd fought Zab Judah, whom Pac ducked.
Floyd is now fighting Ortiz, whom Pac also ducked.
Pac fought an old pre-fight distracted Barrera in '03,
then Pac fought an Old Morales, and fought Morales again after Morales was weight-drained fatiguied.
Now Pac has had FIXED FIGHTS with Delahoya, Clottey, Margarito, and Mosley.

ODH was still a viable champ, clearly not elite. Mosley was the top ranked ww who was seen as a real challenge for floyd. Hatton was highly ranked and seemed formidable. floyd showed these fighters were not at an elite level prior to MAnny fighting them.
For lack of a better word. I think its hard to overate Hatton, ODH,JMM, and Mosley at the point they fought floyd. Morales nor Maidana are elite level fighters at this point so its not the same.
In terms of legacy, Pac just started competing with Mayweather in 2009 after the Ricky Hatton fight.
How does 2 years of solid work overrule the other 14 years Mayweather's resume/career was considered better than Pac's?
If anyone would've compared Pac to Mayweather from 1996-2008, they would've been laughed at. But because Pac has solid wins from 2009-2011, now all of a sudden Pac has the greater career? Come on people!
Mayweather and Pacquiao both share a lot of signature wins (DLH, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley). However, what sets Pacquiao's resume above and beyond Floyd's to me are the wins against Clottey and Cotto.
I think resume wise a Floyd win over Ortiz would make Floyd look better than another Pacquiao win against Marquez (a win over someone Mayweather dominated two years ago). If Floyd were to fight say Cotto next, I would really think about giving him the nod over Pacquiao (also depending on who Pacquiao chooses to fight).
But then again, this all could be solved as simply as the two of them meeting in the middle of the ring, for all the marbles, to see who the best really is.

Good argument. Interesting way of looking at it. It's almost as if floyd's resume got worse as his ego and paycheck got bigger.

Basically what you saying is Floyd gets every benefit of the doubt in your opinion.
