There is no such thing as "evolution" over 50 years, only popularity.
im not talking about human evolution but athletic evolution. modern training methods give modern fighters an advantage over the golden(tainted) age fighters. one aspect would be something simple yet very vital, breathing techniques during the end of each round.

what do most oldschool trainers say? breathe through your nose right? but in reality its better if you breathe through your mouth. less lactic acid build up. that's just one aspect. one sport.

athletes now are physically superior than athletes back then.

What are you talking about? Thats THE answer... If a fight is only 4 rounds the pace is going to be much faster than a 12 round fight. Why might you ask (lol) because they have so much energy to burn in a small time frame. A fighter may be just as exhausted from a 4 round fight from a fighter in a 12 round fight depending on how they paced themselfs.

        You haven't proved a thing.

And fighters are taught to breath through their nose because or is easier to break a jaw or ko somebody with an open mouth.

Why could fighters who smoked go 15 rounds easily, yet todays fighters with all their advancements have a hard time going 12?

You just cant compare W-L records. different generations have different business environment. i would say if SRR is at this era, im sure he wont fight more than a 100 fights. But he will also have the same access to different conditioning techniques. But if you really want to compare, Watch his 1 best fight, at his peak, and analyze his strength and weaknesses. No sense in comparing 200 wins vs 50 wins.

Because people as a whole are not progressive. They are scared of any change in the guard. Change has always had to be forced on society. There are only a few elite boxers from each era old or new. As time goes on ATG's lists expand more and more. Boxing is the worst when it comes to overrating the past. Its always the old stories that take on more credibility than actually watching the fighters and examining their skills. Its pretty easy to see that Joe Louis was limited. God forbid you say Duran had a Flaw. People are actually still say Pep won a round without throwing a punch. Hearns is invincible for anybody from the 90's on even though he was KTFO before. SRR had many flaws but they're never discussed. Only the fact that he fought 200 fights matters. JCC fought a lot of fights so he's uuntouchable unless he's fight one of the great 80's fighters. Frazier would probably crush Jack Johnson just comparing the styles but Jack was born first so I guess its absurd. Ali would toy with Louis. Frazier would lose to a lot of Heavies of recent eras just on size and power.

My point is that the sport changes like any other sport. Chances are most fighters are only good for their time and very few are ahead of their time. And it is possible that though a boxer may dominate their era they wouldnt stand a chance against the new breed of greats.

So are you trying to tell me the best middleweights of the 50's (15 round fighters) threw less punches than todays middles who only fight 12 rounds? Im waiting.

put your reading glasses on old man. i said at the end of each round meaning during the one minute break.

the medical advancements are there, its up to today's fighters to take full advantage of it which the majority of boxers dont do. Pac or floyd can go 15 with no problems.
