again I reinterate: How else did Locche win? He had no offense, was unathletic, and was a chain smoker. Hell, some of his fights he used to smoke inbetween rounds. He wasnt a fast guy either, his defense was NOT based around natural speedy reflexes, this was a guy that could interpret the moves of his opponent and make them miss.

You tell me when Mayweather beat one of the best fighters of all time in their weight class in a shutout using virtually nothing but defense.
Or perhaps show me a fight where he made a lineal reigning champ quit simply out of frustration and exhaustion of misses punches over and over.

Mayweather is clearly the better fighter overall. no doubt. and would win if they theoreticaly fought. and also one of the best defensive fighters in the history of the sport.
But Locche, like his nickname, is untouchable in this catagory. the guy was something else.

Not sure what fights you have been watching but he had incredible reflexes and he did use them. What do you see when you watch him fight?? I am puzzled.

IMO, Floyd is the third greatest defensive fighter. Just behind Pep and SP. What is special about Floyds defense though is it sets up a pretty solid offense.

yep, I dont think it was high profile, but its documented somewhere.

I see him reading his opponents and interpreting what punches theyre going to throw before they throw them. His reflexes were good, sure, but the guy was not a fast individual in general physically.

                  Speed of mind? yes.
Speed of body? not as much.

Physical advantages and mental ones are two seperate things to me, and I think Locche primarily used mostly mental.

he definitely has technique. theres no doubt about it, he rolls punches, he steps just out of range so that even if he does get hit, he doesnt take the full force of these punches. thats all technique.

I agree. Obviously he had to have some technique. But the way he frequently dropped his hands and slipped punches just by moving his head required incredible reflexes. Otherwise he would have gotten his head knocked off. It always a mixture of both but Mayweather seems more technical than fighters like Locche, Whitaker, or Pep. Especially as he's gotten older.
