Per Capita it's the UK that is the most successful ever in boxing, they can't change that because it's official.. and infact the USA doesn't even come close.Originally posted by - Evil -Thats just bull****, i know your trying to prove JuyJuy wrong but thats ****ing silly. I dont normally like bringing nationallity into it but that is a fact. I dont think a lot of the fans who say UK fighters are **** really watch UK fighters, because they obviously arent ****, if they dont recognise a name on someone's record they assume they are a bum, thats very, very annoying. Personally i like to watch a fighter few times before i pass judgement on their talent and when picking a winner of a fight i normally like to watch at least 5 bouts of the two fighters, but these ******s just like to look at boxrec and guess.Originally posted by JUYJUYPer Capita it's the UK that is the most successful ever in boxing, they can't change that because it's official.. and infact the USA doesn't even come close.Comment

The UK has produced some outstanding talent. If you saw guys like Herol Graham, Nigel Benn, Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton when they were dominating the ABA amateurs and just looking outrageously good then you'd appreciate just what talent the UK can produce in the boxing game. Those guys I mentioned weren't your usual ABA winners, they showed unique talents when winning. Herol Graham's elusive defence skills were like nothing you've seen and you just knew that NOBODY else could do that, for example. Nigel Benn's ability to string together hooks and uppercuts with such power was like nothing else you saw in amateur boxing, his punches even sounded different. Joe Calzaghe's hand speed when he was at welterweight was real good, you knew that you probably had never seen hand speed like that before from a tall white guy.. I remember Joe fought the reigning world champion at the european championships in 1990 and was so confident with him, he was dropping his gloves and tapping him on his head, and acting like Ali with his dazzling footwork and stuff. I remember Naseem Hamed winning the european cup in the juniors in Manchester, they couldn't touch him and he punched from angles that you'd never seen before in your entire life.Originally posted by - Evil -I dont normally like bringing nationallity into it but that is a fact. JUY .... ou outdid yourself man. This is really a brilliant post. No ****in' kidding, really.Originally posted by JUYJUYThe UK has produced some outstanding talent. Anyway..
Of these guys though, I've never been impressed by Honeyghan, simply cuase he beat Currie in such an outrageous underdog position (or was he just underrated?). Either way, I see Honeyghan as a very good fighter, but his two big losses after Currie came at the hands of the two most memorable opponents. Meaning paz and that other skinny bastard Breland, who went on to do nothing, except *******.
You remember that Breland fight, ouch!!Comment

I've just edited Lloyd's name out because I don't think he was in the same class as the others, well spotted. Lloyd was very good, but not as outstanding potential as the others.Originally posted by MoonJUY .... ou outdid yourself man. This is really a brilliant post. No ****in' kidding, really.

The reason he was such a big underdog against Curry was because CURRY WAS THE ****. Damn, Curry was lb4lb #1 at the time and people thought that he'd never get beat! That's why Lloyd was such an underdog, it was all to do with how awesome Curry was back then.Comment
