Eubank was wise to avoid McCallum.
Is this a ****ty resume?

Just found this -
In 1994, boxer Chris Eubank wore riding boots, jodhpurs and an English jacket to a photo shoot at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. This was prior to his match with German boxer Graciano Rocchigiani and Eubank's decision to wear this ensemble was political.
'When it came to taking photographs, I was very theatrical. I was standing there in my English Gentleman's clothes, pointing in the direction of Hitler's bunker with the pea**** strut in full flow... Let's not forget, this wasn't just their German boy against the Englishman. It was a black Englishman, dressed like an aristrocat'

No excuses Juy theres a reason why Eubank ducked Bomber Graham .. they sparred alot and I think Eubank knew Bomber would be very very difficult to beat .. Eubank beat up Denys Cronin in a british title eliminator in cardiff but didnt take the opportunity to fight Bomber .. and then later that yr Eubank and Bomber were due to fight in a WBC world title eliminator to see who would fight Roberto Duran but again Eubank didnt want to do thatComment

Dude, Eubank's GENIOUS created the greatest rivalry we ever saw in boxing (in this country atleast), had Eubank not drummed up the Benn rivalry then we'd of been ****ed man, we wouldn't of had the classic 1990 clash and the classic rivalry between the two of them. At the end of the day, the up-and-comer Eubank was making a lot of noise back home while Benn was over in America and if you remember Eubank said in 1989 that Benn went over to America to avoid him after seeing the ease in which he defeated Logan (who Benn struggled with) ofcourse this wasn't true but you have to admire Eubank's vision to sense that a rivalry between such contrasting charactors would reep huge financial rewards. Benn had said that he'd never fight in Britain again, so Eubank did a bloody good job bringing him back over.
And I'd much rather of fought Herol Graham than Nigel Benn!Comment

Originally posted by theclawoftheTigerEubank could of been fighter of the decade .. he had cat-like speed and reflex, but his best asset was his concentration, and he was a puncher
Unfortunately that tragedy in September 1991 ruined him .. Chris never was the same again .. before that night, Chris was a puncher .. before that night, Chris had cat-like instincts when he had a man hurt .. after that night, Chris was no longer a puncher .. after that night, Chris had lost his finishing instinct, and he just didn't seem to have as much concentration as before ..
Sure, he was an excellent fighter still but I did not prefer the cautious Eubank just like I did not prefer the cautious RJjnr post-Feb95 .. and I think Chris stayed at super middle too long because he was always really struggling to make the weight and it was getting more and more of a struggle over time .. Chris would drag every ounce of liquid out of his body to make weight ( he walked around at 190 between fights ! ) .. he should of moved up to 175 .. if you watch Chris' fantastic performances against Rocchigiani and Wharton in 94 and then watch Chris in his second fight with Collins in Sept95 when he retired and in his fight with Calzaghe in Oct97 when he came out of retirement ( apart from a couple of exhibitions at 175 in the middle east ) and it's blatantly clear to all that Chris was a complete shadow of his former self by the time he drained his weight down yet again and dragged himself to the ring against Collins the second time and for Calzaghe with a weeks notice .. the Chris who fought so well against Rocchigiani and Wharton would clearly win every round against the Chris who fought Collins the second time and Calzaghe .. and that is clearly a result of too many yrs struggling to make the 12stone limit combined with the fact that all of his fights were going the full 12 rounds due to losing his finishing instinct post-Watson - so Eubanks body was a complete wreck by the time he fought Collins the second time ( over 18 mnths after Rocchigiani and almost a yr after Wharton ) .. I remember Eubank's trainer ( the black guy from New York ) saying that Chris had to win those two fights between the Collins fights as early as possible because he couldnt last long ( he rushed in and won both those fights in the first round ) and the guy also said that he knew Chris didnt stand a chance against Collins the second time if it went any longer than six rounds due to Eubanks body being a wreck .. watch the first Collins fight and Eubank looks much better, he picks up the early rounds casually just as usual and is looking good and then knocks down Collins with a chopping right hand at the start of round 10 which almost knocks Collins head off and has Collins' head hanging through the ropes ( that was six months and a few more fights earlier than the second Collins fight, six more months of struggle with weight ) .. he didnt finish Collins in the first fight because he had terrible images of Watson flashing through his head and didnt do anything for the rest of the fight so Collins picked up the last two rounds and got a gift decision because Eubank had slipped a few times earlier in the fight and the referee had counted them as knockdowns, it was such a huge upset but Eubank was just freaked out in the head ( Collins had claimed he was hypnotised into believing he wouldn't feel any punches and would need to be killed to be stopped or something and it freaked Eubank what with Eubank being fragile in the mind after Watson )
I dont know why Chris didnt accept the fight with Henry Maske, he chose to rematch Collins instead and then retire instead of fighting Maske for the IBF 175 belt .. he had already been to Germany and defeated an undefeated 6'3" German southpaw and at 175 Eubank would be at a more comfortable weight .. and if he beat Maske ( which he would of done at 175 ) he was guaranteed a multimillion fight with RJjnr ..Comment

And JUYJUY what the heck is Gary Stretch doing on that list? Sure Gary was above average and yes he was the glamour-boy of british boxing, but he was only domestic level and didnt take his boxing that seriously. He had some potential I suppose, but he was unproven going into the Eubank fight and didnt do anything after that. Guys like Ray Close and Sam Storey were just as good as Stretch so why not mention those too? Close,Storey and Stretch were just domestic level and all totally outclassed by the worldclass Eubank, not quite sure why you mention Stretch. Eubank looked good against Stretch but its not one of his best wins because Stretch was unproven dude.Comment
