see i don't agree i know he was "inactive" the first 3-4 rounds (which as ALWAYS been his style) then came about to take over the fight, Taylor was fatigued AS HELL and if you don't believe me, go back and see it yourself, no denying it.

BUT, if you don't put in work for the full 12 ROUNDS of action, you can't expect a guarenteed victory. The decision was harsh but somewhat just considering how the entire fight went.

I don't agree with Jones' impression of the fight either though, at least not entirely. I thought Hopkins would have started earlier if he could, but he just couldn't keep up with the kid. I mean, really, would Hopkins seriously come in with a plac to do **** for 9 rounds and then KO sometime in the last 3? Nobody would be that foolish. I appreciate Jones' insights into the game but I think that he was a little off with this one.

i basically agree with you, but i think Jones was trying to make things even as far as the "commentary routing" was concerned. Without Jones there to back Hopkins somewhat, those two would've almost had me convinced that Taylor is a middleweight god. It's all about the $$$.

i know where youre coming from, but when merchant was making his remarks to roy (just a hair below "where is your savior NOW?"), roy was saying that this is what hopkins does, and hes gunna come on strong in the late rounds. the only thing that pained me was in the 11th and 12th hop was waiting too long to make his move between exchanges.

still, roy wasnt that far off, and this is coming from not a jones hater, but someone who isnt particularly fond of him.

edit: though i do remember roy talking about hop coming on in the later rounds in round 7, which at that point it was sort of moot.

Both of you make good points, when Merchant and Lampley get on a guy it can be a bit ridiculous, like when they had Kid Diamond supposedly running away with the Casa fight, and I respect Roy for having enough respect for Hopkins to take his side like that.

What the hell? Are they supposed to give older fighters a break or something? If he can't fight the whole fight, maybe he should consider a different occupation.
No break needed , His defense was sharper, he was more accurate , and he also had him holding on for dear life at the end of the fight .

He should have got the decision because he was the champ for ten years , he had him hurt a few times , and also because the 2nd half of the fight Taylor was quieted .

Thats what i think , DOes anyone else agree ?

I would liked to have heard George Foreman put his spin on it. He seems a bit more middle of the road.
