i doubt bute will fight dawson. there's really nothing in it for him. he's better off waiting for the winner of the super 6

It's amazing that a fighter who has beaten absolutely nobody and handpicked every single opponent for the past 3 years gets so much credit on a site where people give Floyd Mayweather **** for fighting much stiffer competition than Bute ever has.

It's almost laughable. Bute has pulled the wool over the eyes of a lot of fans.
you're right but bute fills the house in montreal/ The only way to make money fighting bute is to go there.

Guaranteed money from HBO>>>>>>>>Revenue from the gate.

Chad Dawson bringing a guaranteed HBO WCB date>>>>>Bute's gate drawing power.

However, both put together make for a very big fight. Which is why people should not be bitching about this fight.

So far, Lucian Bute has fought on a BAD and as the B side of a WCB where considering he had to split money with Pavlik, Martinez, and Miranda, he probably didn't make that much.

Bute/Dawson is a fight HBO would probably put up around 3 mill for, and a lot of that is cause of Dawson.

Therefore, Dawson brings something to the table. And why wouldn't Bute move up? Every worthy opponent at 168 is occupied with the Super Six. And we don't know what those contracts look like...I'm curious to see if Showtime has options on these Super Six guys.

Plus, Bute/Froch is not going to be a WCB. HBO isn't putting up that kind of money for that fight...I don't see them putting up that money for Bute/Green, Kessler, Froch, or Abraham.

A moving up in weight Bute>>>>>>>>Cloud as an opponent. I don't see how it's debatable.
          You're talking in theory.

But in real life, Dawson is unwatchable and couldn't even sell out Planet Hollywood's tiny venue against Tarver. In fact it was damn near empty.

Bute has the power here, because he actually sells out arena's in Canada. Something Dawson can't even do in his hometown. Dawson's only leverage, if you can even call it that is that he's been on HBO longer, doing ****ty numbers.

I fell asleep during tarver dawson2 and tarver johnson2. I mean I was ****ing snoring. HBO knows they got a good regional guy in Bute. I think pullcounter is right on. he's better off waiting for the super 6 winner than actually being in the tourney. besides, HBO will dust of Jermain Taylor for him.

What this guy said is exactly right.

Chances of this getting through people's thick skulls: Approx 6%

Read my above post. Dawson's contract with HBO is for HBO WCB dates.

That means Dawson brings a guaranteed WCB date. That holds more weight than being a regional draw putting asses in the seat.

However, both put together make for a great promotion, and a great fight.

Which is why this is great news. Two top 10 P4P guys, and the beginning of the re-emergence of the LHW division and people are complaining. Only on NSB.

Really makes you wonder wtf is wrong w/ HBO boxing division doesn't it?

Giving a guy who brings in no numbers and no ratings dates? I honestly wonder how they're still in business.

That's true....but still, this is the way things are, for better or worse.

But either way....this is a great fight and I'm just happy it might happen. Couldn't realistically ask for a better opponent for either guy.
