This is fight that pretty much all boxing fans would love to see.

It will not get made because of Lucian Bute isn't going to take a risk.

    It's really that simple.

If people are going to pretend that it somehow makes more sense to continue fighting Jesse Brinkley's for the next year and a half than to take a huge fight on HBO WCB against Chad Dawson than there really is no getting through to them.

This article says nothing about Team Bute wanting the fight and they almost certainly will not step to a catch weight against Chad Dawson when it means getting his ass handed to him.

Shaw says "at a catchweight" he doesn't say anything about fighting at 168. HBO may want the fight, and the fans may want the fight, but Lucian Bute won't get caught dead making the mistake of fighting Chad Dawson when he has the prospect of fighting the winner of the Super 6 (a much lesser opponent) for just as much if not more money.
Yep. Dawson-Bute will not happen. To dangerous for Bute who wants to keep his belt and undefeated record intact to enable the big money fight against the supersix winner.

Look for Bute's riskiest fight untill the end of the supersix to be Kelly Pavlik. Dawson? No way.

And Cloud is a nobody while Bute is borderline Top 10 P4P. And Bute is going to move up, it's inevitable. All of those '68 guys will move up soon, so if Bute is the first one to, why does that make it meaningless?
He's talking about if its at a catchweight

I agree, except his riskiest fight will be the best loser of the tourney. Showtimne does not have options on the losers of the tourney.

Why would Dirrell move up to fight Chad when Bute is there for him? He can reclaim top 2 168 status if he loses to Ward (which isn't going to happen) and goes to fight Bute.

I'm not that excited about it tbh. I just think Dawson is ****. But thats where you and I differ I guess.

However, both put together make for a very big fight. Which is why people should not be bitching about this fight.
Gate $ plus Showtime money > HBO and the risk of a CHad Dawson?

              me no think so.

Look, I'm not saying the fight shouldn't be made, but I am saying that Bute holds all the power and isn't going to take the risk until he settles everything at 168. Ya'll are acting like I don't want to see it, I'm saying it doesn't make sense in PRIZEFIGHTING.

He will have a legit opponent from the super 6 in 12 months. He's not going to risk coming in as the smaller man against a faster, bigger, stronger, better boxer while he's banking at 168 and waiting for a bigger megafight vs the winner of the Super 6 Boxing classic. Why can't you understand that? You tell me what fighter would.....

Even if he goes up and loses, he loses leverage, we all know how important that 0 in in boxing nowadays.

Dawson is the only one who can make a Glen Johnson fight boring.

Gate money doesn't mean **** in the grand scheme. It's nice to have a full house and it creates an ideal atmosphere but it's not how the fighter's get most of their money.

If you look back at the largest grossing fights of all time, the ones that generated millions upon millions of dollars, there are quite a few where the paid attendance was under 15,000.

If fighters got rich off the live gate because it was so much money then a band like U2 would only have to do a 1 concert tour every year because they could draw 60K and charge more money than a Bute ticket.
