Should there be a Super Heavyweight Division?

I agree with this. The smaller or regular sized heavyweights of today's era are not even on the level of an Ali, Liston, Frazier, Tyson. If a fighter of their calibre were to emerge from the mist today then we will all be singing a different tune.Show me where I said that I like the idea of it? Are you not reading the thread?
Even in the post that you just responded to. I mentioned "the idea even though I don't like it"
Again I am not for the SHW division. But, I understand why somebody would think is a good idea. Because, the HW's of today, I repeat of today, can't compete with these big skilled HW's like the Klitschko's.
That has nothing to do with Frazier nor Tyson. Since there are no smallish HW's right now that are as good as Frazier or Tyson. Those type of fighters are not walking through that door. I don't see any in the horizon. No small HWs right now can carry Tyson or Frazier jock strapped.
So just cuz the the smaller HWs of today may not be able to compete. Doesn't mean that Frazier or Tyson couldn't it. Again not saying that I agree or like having a super heavyweight division. But, I am saying the smaller HWs of today may not be able to compete but Frazier and Tyson could.Comment

Eddie Chambers is an outstanding fighter, I challenge you to find 10 more skilled fighters technically across any weight class in the world today.Honestly, all the Heavyweight Division needs is a great smaller fighter who will be able to dethrone the Klitschko's.
Wlad and Vitali weigh about 240-250 pounds.
Smaller sized Heavyweights of the past were also able to knock out so called "Super" Heavies. Jack Demspey who weighed 190 pounds and below 200 pounds his entire career knocked out Jess Willard 245 pounds and Tony Drake weighed 257.Joe Frazier was also able to roll over a couple Super Heavies, Undefeated Buster Mathis included.
The 2 brothers are just soo far ahead of todays pack. I believe size is irrelavant. If you are a great heavyweight, you are a great heavyweight.
He got in with Wlad felt the power early on of a guy who he was physically overmatched against and got discouraged, realizing that it wasn't happening so he tried to just make it to the final bell and not get hurt.
Without the size disparity, I think that is a different fight between two guys with world class skill.Comment

You don't have to change the weight disparity, that is the whole point. If you're a great HW it doesn't matter if you are 220, if you can't compete with the best it's because you're not good enough.there is only so much "useful" weight a man naturally 220 can put on.
if by natural you mean not fat but muscle then that wouldnt benefit the fighter either.
the bigger heavier muscles would then slow him down and tire him quicker since he is naturally a 220lb. guy
see my point?
when you have a weight disparity that big there isnt much you can do to change it unless you want to get fat or overly muscularComment

Super middleweight could be 170, light heavyweight could be 185, and cruiserweight could be 210 and re-named "heavyweight".It would be some what diminished because there is stronger men that aren't fighting in what has been the stronger / heaviest weight class for 100+ years, it would take away the prestige of being the strongest boxer and it would be given to as you said "guys who are lazier and don't want to work out".
Guess that prestige was already tarnished when they added more meaningless belts though.
Obvious weight changes would have to be made, maybe cut off the HW Div at 225-230 and move LHW to 180 -185. Give or take a few lbs to each.
Over 210 could be called super heavyweight.Comment

You want a better example.
Max Baer Knocking Out Primo Carnera. Carnera weighed 260 plus and had a very similar style to Vitali.
That example should settle that issue.
A great Heavyweight should be able to overcome any fighter regardless of weight.Comment

Agree with this, the points I was saying in my other posts is that if a SHW Div had to be made then changes would need to be made then get rid of CW, cut off HW at 225-230(Give or take a few) and maybe increase LHW.Honestly, all the Heavyweight Division needs is a great smaller fighter who will be able to dethrone the Klitschko's.

so a lightweight should be able to stand toe to toe with a welterweight no problem with no catchweight or weight change?Comment

I haven't said you have said that you like the idea, I'm actually agreeing with you. There's no need for a SHW division because a Tyson or Frazier has to emerge eventually statistically.Show me where I said that I like the idea of it? Are you not reading the thread?
