Should there be a Super Heavyweight Division?

Now i have nothing against the big boys such as the Klitschko's. Especially Vitali.

but ever since Lennox Lewis the big boys have reigned supreme over the division.

I miss the days of 200-220 lb. champions.

    Now hear me out.

If we were to install a Super Heavy division it may keep some of these blownup heavyweights down at a decent weight instead of trying to blow up to match size with the naturally bigger heavier guys.

There is a legitmate amount of fighters who(once they mature) out grow the cruiserweight division but are still too small to compete on an elite level in the Heavyweight division.

Now the main downside is that we would be stripping the current Heavyweight champs and making them Super Heavyweight champs. Almost making them step down a notch since the Heavyweight Champion of the World is considered the highest honor in boxing.

    What do you guys think?

This is my main concern. If there were to be a Super Heavyweight Division then alot of the 'lustre' and 'prestige' of owning the 'Heavyweight' Title will be diminished. The Heavyweight division is lacking talent as it is, and to split the talent up even further would damage all prospects of the Division coming back to life again. Thoughts?

I agree with this. Now you will get some boxing purists (mainly Klit fans) completely shoot this down but we have to face facts. Athletes evolve. These guys today are giants. Some over 6-6, some even up over 290 Pounds.

There was talk of this really happening a few months back. The sanctioning bodies had a meeting on it. Nothing ever got released on what happened with it.

Perfect Example: Chambers vs. Wlad. The fight is just a clear mis match. Id love to see a Super Heavyweight Division.

But at that same token Id love to see Heavyweight have a weight limit. Like 240 or something like that. Guys coming in like Tyson Fury at 270 is just bull****. I think this would make the Heavyweight division better. Make these guys have to make weight like everybody else. Then all the lazy fat slobs can be stuck at Super Heavy.

No, that is the last thing Boxing needs.

Instead of worrying about a new division, they should be spending money on the training of new and young boxers.
Fu-ck the WBC, WBO, WBA and all that garbage. For them a new weight division means more sanctioning fees. SO HELL NO.

but you have to understand that when divisions were made men were smaller.

as time has progressed larger men have been able to be just as athletic as smaller men.

so today Dempsey, Marciano, etc. would have no place in boxing because they were bigger than cruisers but no where near 250lbs.

It wouldn't be the first time they did it. We have the Cruiserweight division.

What about the whole OVERALL size of the fighters. Just like any sport athletes evolve.

No,we dont need anymore divisions and more champions.
The HW division has already got a huge amount of critics,by splitting it would just make the two divisions even weaker.
