That's a convenient excuse, if not a plausible one. What's to say he wouldn't gas against Pavlik? Pavlik is much better than Andrade, that's for sure. Regardless, Bute has lots more to prove. He'll get his chance soon enough.

Bute's trainer said after the fight and before the rematch Bute had an undisclosed inmjury going into the first fight.

Some time after the rematch it came out.He went to his sister's wedding in Romania and got stomach problems or something like that.Probably ate something wrong.
They wanted to postpone the fight but Bute wanted to fight anywya.
People look to much into that Andrade fight.

Bute has faced no real competion and has onyl fought 2 times outside of Quebec. talk about protected. Let em know when he fights a top guy outside of Montreal then amybe he can be considered the best at 168 until then he just another coddled, protected fighter.

If I'm Pavlik and I accept this fight, there is no way in the world I go up to Montreal to fight. make Bute do what other champions have to go fight away from home.

I can think of much better fights for Pav at 168, but most are tied up in the Super Six. Bute is a horrible style matchup for Kelly.

a loss in this one could be a career ender for pavlik..... tbh i always thought he was over rated anyway, but a couple of years ago he was the great white hope
