I give Mosley a chance BUT we must remember that you guys are basing this P4P on a Mosley that is soon to be 39 and that hasn't fought in 1.5 years. Floyd is also favored by a 4 - 1 margin.

He needs to fight 1 or 2 guys who are favored to beat him or who at least make the odds respectable or who is P4P before we can hand this P4P over to him.

    Not before!

Mayweather's more popular than Shane. So more money's coming on Mayweather. Don't count that against him. By that rational, JMM had a better shot at beating Mayweather than Mosley.

I consider them both #1 P4P until one of the following things happen:

        a) Pac and Mayweather fight each other
        b) Either loses
        c) Either retires
        d) Either starts fighting drastically lower competition

Otherwise it's too close to call and I just consider them 1a and 1b.

You need to take my whole post into account. The odds are against Mosley winning for the reasons I mentioned plus due to his opponent. Still, the comment you hear everytime they replay the Tyson/Buster Douglas was the odds. Odds mean something, like it or not.

guys the p4p 1# title is not some official belt that is lineal. Kingship doesnt get transferred that way. Shane Mosley was p4p 1# in 2000 & 2001. 2002 came around & he gets beat by forrest. Did forrest become p4p 1#? No. Roy Jones jr. was 1# up until tarver ko'd him. Did tarver become p4p 1#? No. Its not a official belt that is lineal. That's not how kingship gets transferred.

There's a reason why they call it p4p meaning pound for pound. To compare & rank fighters who are in different divisions that wont be able to fight each other. The beauty of manny vs floyd is that both fighters that are vying for the top sport & they happen to be in the same division with manny moving to welterweight fairly recently.

I my opinion, even if floyd wins vs mosley the consensus will still be pac 1# with floyd solidly at 2#. If they dont fight each other, the caliber of fighters they fight & how they win will decide the kingship.

So to answer the question, if/when floyd beats shane pac man is still king when that moment arrives.

I say yes............a good win over shane elevates Floyd to P4p number 1.

                .....a close win does not.

If Pac is P4P better than Floyd, and in the same weight class, shouldn't he be favored over Floyd?
