Here's the problem with the Pac vs nobody = 700,000 and PBF vs nobody = 1,000,000

Marquez has a bigger fan base than Clottey. Pretty sure 300,000 or more of those buys were in the form of Mexican Americans.

Also, Pac until recently was a non-english speaking athlete. For someone from the Phillipines to be able to draw the amount of interest he does in the US is a testament to his appeal with the casual fan.

Tell me one other foreign athlete that can or has generated the kind of interest and money Pac has in the US...the answer is nobody.

Put Floyd in a foreign country where the language is non-english and see if he could draw like Pac does in the US...no chance.

But you still can't compare Clottey to JMM because JMM was a name in the sport and had a bigger following than Clottey has ever had. Putting into the equation that they promoted the hell out of that fight (Mayweather vs JMM) by putting it in theaters, giving discounts on the PPV, etc in comparison to how Pacquiao vs Clottey was promoted, it's Night and Day. You think there were NO Mexicans in attendance at the May vs JMM fight? How many Clottey (or Ghana natives) fans do you think attended the Pacquiao fight or much less ordered the fight on PPV in comparison to Pacquiao fans and people who generally love to see Pac fight? All the coverage that was given for Pac vs Clottey was presented in a way where it was a sure shot for Pacquiao to win. With JMM vs Mayweather, though most Boxing fans gave JMM a very slim chance, they sold the fight on the merit that JMM had fought Pacquiao closely twice (being that at that moment he's considered the #1 fighter) and that Floyd was making his return after an 18 month layoff. There was a story to sell as opposed to paying solely to see 1 fighter.

The #1 P4P fighter fighting a top 5 welterweight in the new cowboys stadium everyone has been anticipated/waiting for to check out had nothing to do with it right?

Clottey has fought in front of Cotto, Margarito, Judah and Corrales fans, you think not a single one of those fans wanted to see Clottey fight baring in mind he has those names in his resume? He arguably beat Cotto in his last fight, that was the selling point Roach and Team Pacquiao had used.

You dont think any Latinos (Considering Pacquiao beat Cotto in his last fight and people though Clottey beat Cotto) or football fans were in the Pacquiao-Clottey fight?

All I'm saying is that JMM is a bigger name than Clottey but its hilarious how many of you are saying that the PPV with floyd was successful mostly because of JMM when it was considered a tune-up/joke bout against a blownup lightweight who no one gave a chance to win and floyd took more heat when he weighed in at 146 lbs...1 million buys mostly because of Marquez right and Pacquiao-Clottey 100% because of Pacquiao, right?

...So how come more than 100K didn't watch Marquez face a lightweight his size (Casamayor) which was a 50-50 or 60-40 fight?

Pacquaio has still sold quite a fair few PPV's with Morales over 300k and the Cotto fight was a strong one for him. Remember it was 5 dollars more per PPV in that fight too.

However there has never been a doubt that Floyd has sold more PPV's, but I expect that when he has had the haed start at being american.
