At the time bro, JMM was the most popular Mexican fighter in the US. In Mexico it was Saul Alvarez. But, people still knew who JMM was. And, lets not forget when JMM drank his own piss own 24/7 made him a household name. Non boxing shows in Spanish and English were talking about that. The man was not a nobody.
